Chapter 4- Mom?

One drive later

Rhetts POV

I chased after Link as he ran into the main hospital entrance. He pushed open the door with such a force that it banged against the wall with a loud bang. He rushes up to the front desk almost out of breath.

"I'm looking for......Sue Capps. My mom. She was admitted here a few hours ago...." He took big gasps of air, trying to catch his breath. The woman at the front desk immediately looked scared at link.

"Room 118....but I don't think...." Link suddenly dashed off again, leaving me alone at the front desk.

"Your boyfriend sure is in a hurry...." The lady muttered to herself. I shook my head at ran after link again, barley able to keep up with him. As I turned into the doorway I saw link sitting in a chair, sitting very closely to his mother.

"Who's this?" She whispered to him. He looked up and smiled.

"Mom this is Rhett. He's the one who's giving me a place to live." She smiled at me. I waved awkwardly to her. Link beckoned me in.

"Don't be shy Rhett." I grabbed a chair from the corner of the room and sat opposite him.

"You seem like a nice young man. Thank you for taking in my son." She grabbed hold of my hand and gripped it tightly. I smiled at her.

"It's no problem at all. Anything for a friend." She smiled at me before turning to Link.

"This ones a keeper..." She whispered. Links face turned a very deep shade of red. I bit my cheeks to stop the laughter.

"Mom come on....no we're not.....no." He smirked. 

Suddenly a large man appeared in the doorway. We all turned and looked at him.

"Sue are you ok?" The man pushed me out of the way to hug his wife. I went to say something but link shook his head. I moved my chair round so I was sitting next to him.  The man turned to look at us and frowned deeply.

"Hello Link." The man growled, his eyes swivelling to me.

"Hello dad. How's things been?" Link whispered, not even looking up at his father. I clenched my fists in frustration at his father.

"Fine thank you very much. I see you're still......." He didn't even finish his sentence.

"Who's this? Another one of your "male friends"?" I stood up and made my way towards him but Link held my arm back.

"Rhett leave him. He's not worth it." He looked over to his mom.

"We'll come see you some other time..... Where we can be alone. Let's go Rhett." He dragged me out of the room and down the corridors. As we clambered into my car I couldn't help but explode.

"Seriously what is the problem with you dad? I barley know the guy and I want to punch him! No offence link..." He chuckled quietly.

"It's ok. I would've let you. Just not in front of my mother. He's always been like that. Ever since I came out he's always hated me. So my mom left him and we lived happily together. He's never liked any of my boyfriends either. He must've thought you were my boyfriend." I sat in utter silence.

"I'm sorry I didn't know...." He smiled again.

"It's ok man. You can punch him in my birthday." Even I couldn't help but smile at him.

Later

Links POV

"You want anything to eat? You've had a tough day man." Rhett looked over to me on the couch.

"No it's ok. I might just go to bed. I've got such a headache." He nodded and left the room. I clambered up the stairs and slipped into my pyjamas before clambering under the covers. I tossed and turned, trying to get comfortable but my head was pounding and my stomach had started to twist into knots. I glanced over at the clock. I had been trying to sleep for an hour. It had only felt like ten minutes. Suddenly I heard a quiet knock on the door.

"Link?" Rhett pushed open the door, peeking his head in.

"You ok buddy?" I shook my head, moaning softly. He came in and sat down next to me.

"What up?" I sat up and placed my feet on the floor. He rubbed my back softly.

"I feel so miserable. I've been through so much today....losing my job, my house, almost my mom. My nerves can't cope with that. I just get so sick. I've got such a headache and I feel awful." Rhett rubbed my back even more, trying to calm me down.

"Do you feel like you're gonna be sick?" I shrugged.

"Why don't we go to the bathroom huh?" He scooped me up in my arms. I would've said something but I was scared something else was going to come out of my moth. He placed me in front of the toilet and lifted the lid up.  My breathing began to grow heavy and I gagged softly.

"Don't keep it in bud." As soon as he finished his sentence I felt my whole body judder forward as everything from the day tumbled out of my mouth. Rhett whispered something. In my ear but I was too ill to even focus on it. My whole body shook as I was sick over and over again, my whole body shaking and liquid pouting out of my nose and mouth. I swallowed again, determined not to let anything out of my mouth.

"Don't keep it in. You'll make yourself more sick." He rubbed my sticky back as I left the rest of the watered down food out into the ceramic bowl. After a couple of minutes everything finally stopped. Rhett leaned over me and closed the toilet. I rested my head on the cold lid.

"You ok buddy?" He looked at me with such worry and concern. I nodded gently. He flushed the toilet and grabbed a cloth from the sink and wetting it before dabbing it on my forehead.

"Do you wanna go back to bed? Or stay here?" I went to open my mouth but I lifted the lid instead as even more food barrelled out of my mouth. He left me alone in the bathroom, my whole body shivering. He returned a few minutes later with a blanket and some pillows. He sat me down on the edge of the bathtub and removed my sweaty shirt before slipping on one of his clean ones. he made a makeshift bed in the floor and He guided me back down onto the floor and wrapped the blanket round me. He wrapped both of his arms around me, trying to keep my warm. I felt my eyes beginning to droop. I tried to keep awake but I couldn't.

"Just try and get some sleep buddy. I'll be right here. I'm not going anywhere."
