Chapter 2 ✯ Airport Fun
Just like any teenager, once they get a break from having to wake up at a strict 5:30 schedule or whatever time they have to wake up for school, they want to drink in all the missed sleep.
Right now, I am in that mode but there is this annoying little buzzing in my mind that’s keeping me from fully going back to sleep.
“Back away or loose a finger,” I grumbled, pulling the covers to tuck them under my chin and curling into a tight ball. They still didn’t back off, despite my threat.
Someone’s about to have a broken nose.
“You can break my nose later, but God so help me, Catherine Fonseka if you don’t get up—“ My brain shut out the rest of his sentence, realizing that he was right and I did have a flight to catch.
I flung the covers back, glaring at him with a sleepy gaze, “Don’t get your knickers in a twist,” I mocked an accent.
“Not the time of day Cat,” he retorted.
“It’s the morning Tommy,” I shot back without missing a beat, pulling myself off the bed and stalking off to the bathroom.
“Be ready in five!”
“Got it,” I grumbled, switching on the light. The bright light scared my bed-ridden eyes, my hand flew up to cover my eyes, but I hit my hand on the counter, which cause me to curse as I shook my hand. I scowled at myself, I was just about to go a week too.
My throbbing hand at least awakened my enough to finish getting ready. I untied my braid, brushing my red hair out with Nadia’s brush. It’s normal bland straightness was now slightly wavy, I ran my fingers from roots to tip a few times to give it a little volume. I looked down at what I was wearing, black running shorts and a white long sleeve t-shirt with a red angry emoticon on the front, I must have put on socks last night or had a short episode of sleep-walking again. I squeezed my eyes tight and breathed out loudly, opening them again, grabbing my loose hair tie, and snapping it around my wrist. I groaned when I forgot I packed my toothbrush and toothpaste, as an alternative, I squirted some onto my finger and ran it over my teeth. There probably was a unused toothbrush in the cabinet, but I honestly couldn’t careless. I finished with that and wiped my mouth dry with a washcloth then exited the bathroom.
I walked into Nadia scream whispering at Thomas about how early it was, I could tell how hard it was for her to control her language. I looked to the clock on the side of my bed, expecting it to be around the late hour of four. No, it was 3:55. No wonder she was a little bitchy, I would to if I wasn’t the one hoping on the plane, but with only two hours of sleep, I am still going to be bitchy to him for waking me up over an hour before my flight.
I grew tired of the bickering when the clock changed to 3:56, I chucked the towel in my hands at her face, “Oh shut up Devil spawn, we have somewhere to be, you can complain after I’m gone.”
I turned to were my stuff was, at least it was supposed to be, only my travel bag was left, “Yo, Tom, where’s my stuff?” I turned back around, Nadia was lying back down and Tom was finishing a text off.
“Had two boy’s take it down,” he shoved his phone in his pant pocket and looked to me, I nodded and shrugged on my backpack and headed over towards the door as my feet slip into my Slides.
Tom followed quickly behind as I bounced down the stairs, I had said good-bye to anyone that mattered to me yesterday, I knew I would be replaced by another trouble maker soon enough an be forgotten, not liked I would care.
Once at the bottom, two boys stood at the pile of bags by the door, quietly talking. It only took a quick second before I recognized the two males and it did not surprise me either. I heavily influenced the previously goody-two-shoes Devin and Terrence, like I was their teacher; no matter how many punishments we had –sweeping, cleaning dishes, making dinner—they still were intent at following me. They also took it to school, earning the top status among the ladies and scoring guy friends while having fun as well.
