"so where are we going now?" jimin asked, after he had a losing argument about who got to pay for the other's dinner with yoongi.

"well, before we go anywhere, it's important that we hang locks because everyone that comes here does it, and so we have to do it too," yoongi was smiling, looking at the locks hanging on every railing in sight.

"but isn't that tradition for couples only?"

"who says?" yoongi pulled two locks out of his pocket. much to jimin's relief, they weren't heart shaped like most of the ones he saw, but just two ordinary shaped locks for two ordinary friends. "we can just think of it as a friendship lock, right?"

he considered this for a while, humming thoughtfully, before finally agreeing with a short nod of his head.
"okay, let's write our wishes then!"

yoongi tossed jimin a pen from his backpack. fumbling to catch it, he tapped the end of it on his chin, trying to settle on one wish amidst many others.

"what did you write, yoongi?" he asked once he saw that he was finished.

"ah, nothing much," he brought his lock up in front of jimin's face. the words weren't korean; instead, yoongi had written his wish in hanja.

「花樣年華」

"what does it mean?" jimin wished he had taken classes more seriously as he looked up to see yoongi staring at the blood orange sunset.

"hwa yang yeon hwa, the most beautiful moment in life," he suddenly faced jimin, which made him lean back in surprise. "what about you? what's your wish?"

jimin hesitated. just a four worded wish from yoongi easily beat his own, even if it didn't make any sense.

"lose weight and be less chubby," he could feel his ears burning red in the cold air. yoongi started to laugh, and just when jimin was about to protest, he held a hand up to silence him.

"you're cute enough like this," said yoongi, who reached over and lightly pinched his cheek. "you shouldn't feel bad or insecure about your own body."

jimin could only offer a weak smile.
"thanks."

"now, are you ready to go?"

"go where?"

"where else? the han river, of course."

"oh, sure!"

and so they chose to walk down the mountain, admiring the beautiful evening scenery along the way.

"han river, please," yoongi said, once they successfully waved down a taxi.

the drive was pretty silent, except for the sound of old songs playing on the car radio, and the old driver humming along to it, until he suddenly interrupted the silence.

"it's a good day for a couple to be taking a walk at the han river, huh?"

jimin quietly thanked any god that was listening for letting the car be pitch black, or else he wouldn't know what to do if yoongi saw him blushing as red as a maraschino cherry.

"i- um- we-"

"thank you, but we're not a couple, sir," yoongi answered politely. he denied it so quickly and smoothly that it made jimin wonder what was making him so embarrassed.

"oh, is that so?"
jimin could have sworn he heard the driver muttering about what a shame it was.

he spent the rest of the drive staring out the window, looking at anything but yoongi. the atmosphere in the car was just too awkward for him to handle.
