jimin blinked, finding it hard to process the words that had just came out of hoseok's mouth.

"what?"

"he's staying in this hospital. i'm not surprised you haven't come across him though, since he's at the opposite wing."

he nodded dumbly, unable to say anything more. the person he wanted to find so badly was this close to him all along. what were the odds?

"so what i'm saying is that-" hoseok hesitated, as if he was asking himself if this was a bad idea. "what i'm saying is that i can take you to see him."

"right now?" he almost shouted in surprise.

"well, when else could you see him?" hoseok let out a laugh at the question. "but i need to ask you something."

jimin tensed up at the serious tone he was using all of a sudden. "what is it?"

"what's your relationship with yoongi? i need to know if i'm going to be making him vulnerable to someone he might not even know."

jimin's mouth opened, only to close again. how was he supposed to answer when he didn't even know himself?

"this is going to sound really weird, but i met him in a dream right before i ended up here. i don't know for sure how or why i know him, but i have a feeling it's important."

hoseok studied jimin for a bit, clearly trying to determine if he had bad intentions or not. after he visibly relaxed and gave a smile of which he hoped was approval, he nodded.

"i don't know you very well, jimin, but i can tell that i'm able to trust you for your word. i think the fact that you haven't took anything from my wallet is proof enough," he held up the said wallet and opened it, showing a thick stack of 50000 won bills hidden inside before placing it back on the table. in reality, jimin hadn't even seen the money that was in there, but he wasn't about to tell him that.

"so, shall we go?" he stood up, offering a hand. jimin took it and jumped off of the bed, holding the iv stand.

"better late than never. but better early than late, i suppose."

"sorry if i shouldn't be asking, but what did you do with yoongi in the dream?" hoseok asked abruptly, interrupting the silence between the two that had been going on for a while.

"oh! um, we went to namsan tower, ate dinner, and watched a movie," jimin made sure to leave out the fact that hoseok dropped his wallet in the dream, and also the part where he and yoongi slept in the same bed. an ex boyfriend was still an ex boyfriend.

"sounds like a nice dream, huh?" he turned sideways, looking at him with a small, sad smile.

"yeah, it was pretty nice?" he shrugged, and the silence continued.

but if they had met because of yoongi texting him that night, wouldn't that mean-

"excuse me for a second," he said. he pulled out his phone and opened his messages, expecting to see yoongi and his' chatroom on the top, but it wasn't. the latest text he had received was from taehyung a few weeks ago, and yoongi's name was nowhere to be found. he sighed, putting it back into his pocket.

"we're here, room 309," hoseok announced. he turned to jimin with an expectant look, but when he blinked back at him dumbfoundedly, his lips formed a small 'o' of realization.

"do you want me to-"

"that would be great, thanks."

hoseok gestured for him to wait outside, and knocked on the door in a specific rhythm. the other side of the room remained silent, and jimin was about to suggest knocking again when they finally heard a voice from inside, barely audible over the background noise of the busy hospital.

"hoseok?"

"i'm coming in."

"...okay."

he glanced at jimin with a look of reassurance, before stepping inside and sliding the door closed behind him. jimin pressed his ear to it so he could hear their conversation.

"why are you here? how did you know where i am?"

he could feel his chest growing tighter. it felt like it had been a lifetime since he had last heard the voice he was hearing now.

"jungkook told me you were here. but that isn't important right now," hoseok's voice was shaking a bit, but  barely, as if he was trying not to let it show. "and i know that i haven't been talking to you since that time, but can we just at least stay as friends? i hate pretending like i never knew you at all, as if we never dated, never did what we did, never said what we said."

jimin pulled away for a moment, wondering if he should be intruding on a conversation that was probably supposed to be private. it seemed rude, but at the same time he didn't want to ask either of them what really happened, so it was best to just 'accidentally' overhear.

"you didn't answer my first question."

it was silent for a moment before hoseok's sigh was heard, quiet yet as loud as a thunderclap in the silent atmosphere of the room.

"i'm here because somebody wants to see you."

"who?"

"i'll let you see for yourself, since you clearly don't want to be alone with me. see you."

jimin heard a few heavy footsteps before it was stopped abruptly. he guessed that yoongi had just stopped hoseok from leaving.

"thank you, hobi. really. we might not have had the most painless history, but yes, let's stay as friends."

there was a loud thump, from which he guessed again was hoseok wrapping yoongi into a hug.

"i'll let jimin see you now," hoseok said, and his footsteps grew louder as jimin leapt away from the door, pretending to be mildly interested in a poster about eating healthy. hoseok opened the door and waved him over, switching places with jimin as he walked towards the open door and hoseok took his spot in front of the poster.

"jimi-?" yoongi repeated in a confused tone, and jimin mouthed a quiet 'thank you' to hoseok who smiled back, before he turned and stepped into the room.

he looked around the tidy room, taking a few more steps. but what caught his eye was the bed, covered in stuffed animals of all shapes and sizes.

and sitting in the midst of it, was a man with the warmest brown eyes and the most beautiful pink lips he had ever seen.

end.
