The talk I had with Sephiroth really helped, surprisingly. It made me feel as though a weight had been lifted off my shoulders, now that I had told someone.
Smiling, I went out into the lounge and laid across the empty couch, flicking on the tv. Knowing Genesis and Angeal, they'd be outside either wresting or sparring. Lazar said that our superiors needed to see how we got along, so I guess we'd be staying here for about a week or so, unless something serious comes up in Midgar.
The phone rang, and I groaned before reluctantly getting up and answering it. "Hello?"
"Hello my name is-" a familiar female voice started
"Hey there doc. It's Aimee." I greeted. "I was just talking about you to a... Friend of mine."
"Aimee. It's good to see you still remember me. How are you?"
I went back to the lounge and sat down with my legs hanging over the side of the chair. "How could I forget an awesome doctor like you?" I chuckled.
"Flattery will get you nowhere. And you didn't answer my question. What has happened?"
I sighed. "Nothing gets past you. I coughed up blood today."
"...How much?" She asked stiffly
"Enough."
"Lazar called me."
"Meaning you contacted him before this without telling me, telling him about the other signs of my "condition". Anyway, I'll bet he told you to tell me to go to the meeting?"
"Yes."
"But you already knew my answer." I stated.
"Yes. I've known it for a while."
"So you called me because?"
"There has been a scan. A worldwide scan. There is nobody else with the disease. Nobody. You are the only one left." She said softly.
"I'm sorry doctor. The cure should have been for Runi."
"Please do it for her sake and mine. Nobody should have to go through the grief I went through. Or the pain my daughter suffered before she died." The tone of her voice was desperate. She was begging. "Please Aimee. Please!"
"Doc... Fine. Okay. I'll go. But you realise that even if I do go, there's a very high risk of me dying at an early age anyway."
"I understand. Now go. They're waiting for you."
I sighed. "Okay. Keep in touch. Bye."
I was met with beeping.
"Geez. Sometimes she can be so rude." I muttered, grabbing my katana and heading outside.

Angeal saw me as I left the house and called out to me.
Turning, I waved to him and Genesis. "I'm just going out, might not get back before nightfall. I'll see you boys later okay? Don't wait up!"
"Hold on, I'm going with you!" He protested, running up.
"Stay and spar with Genesis, brother. I'll be fine. Really."
"You're going to that cure thing. I'm not letting you go alone. You're attacks have become more and more recent, and I want to know what's going on. Genesis! I'm going with Aim! We'll be back later!" He yelled to my boyfriend.
"Be careful!" Genesis replied, sending me a wink.
I gave him a smile and another wave. "See you!" Turning around, I started to head to the middle of the island, where the meeting was being held, Angeal following silently.
