Imagine. Your hair was blowing through the wind coming from your window's car. You were traveling with your best friend with a car full of both of your stuff. You looked out the window. Everything looked so new and exciting. Yet on the unknown, your eyes found a house which looked like an old memory. ~ "So you're really moving?" the little boy said, defeated. "Yeah" a younger version of you sighed. "My parents told me New York was pretty though!" he exclaimed and tried to put a smile on your face. You were leaving your best friend behind; it was kind of hard to be happy right now. You smiled at him as much as you could. "We know we could visit each other, some time, right? You'll come back here or I'll come to New York" he proposed with a grin, as if he realized it was even a solution. "Right, Mom? We could go visit y/n in New York, couldn't we?" he asked her. She was leaning against the door of their house with her husband by her side. She seemed emotional. "Of course sweetheart" she answered with a slight smile. "Y/n, it's time to go" your father informed you as he put the last box in the car. You turned to your friend with tears in your eyes before hugging him tight. You felt his tiny arms around your small body and you couldn't help but to be sad. "I'll never forget you" you whispered close to his ear. "Pinky promise?" he asked as you pulled back. You smiled as tears ran down your face. "Pinky promise" you said and intertwined his pinky with yours. ~ You never saw him again. But you kept your promise. You never forgot him. It was one of your biggest regrets, though you were only 18, not to have keep in touch with him. You sent letters for a few months until they stopped coming. Once in a while, you thought about him. Did he moved out from San Francisco too? Did he still have those curls? The car stopped and soon your thoughts were interrupted by your overexisted best friend. "We're here!!" she almost screamed and got out of the car. You got out too and looked around you, a big smile plastered on your face. "Can you believe are moving to Michigan?" she pratically jumped around you. "Come on, let's put these boxes in the dorm" she said as she put her sunglasses on. It was sunny, bright, just like you imagined your future will be. You paid for a dorm together at the University. With bags on your shoulders and tons of boxes to fill your arms, you could barely see a thing. "Are you sure we shouldn't have done several trips?" you asked in the middle of the stairs. "Too late!" your pal exclaimed. You couldn't help but laugh and hate her at the same time. You both finally reached your floor with much difficulty. You were pretty sure you were not even walking straight with those things blocking your visibility. You heard a door slam across the hall and some guys laughing. "I can't reach the keys" you informed your new roomate. "Wow, you guys got it all out. Let me help you" you heard someone say in front of you. The boxes were blocking his face, but you were already thankful he offered his help. He took the two highest boxes from your hands and revealed his face to your eyes. They grew wide. "Darren?" you exclaimed. "No fucking way, y/n!" he squealed and quickly put the boxes down as you did the same. You crashed into his arms and squeezed him tight. He spun you around, the hall getting filled with your laughter. "Should we worry about their mental health?" your best friend asked. "We should" Darren's friend answered. Darren put you down and pulled away to take a look at you. He looked so handsome and grown up. One thing that didn't change was his smile though. He still had the same old wrinkles under his eyes. "What are you doing here? How was New York? Oh my god, I'm so sorry we never visited you" he rambled and took your hands. You couldn't take the grin off your face."Come on! We were 7! Water's under the bridge! Look at you all grown up with your long hair! Fancy!" you laughed. "Oh shut up" he said as he took you in his arms again. His arms felt much stronger against your older body now. "I never forgot you, you know" he whispered in your ear. "Me neither" you grinned.
