I tap my pen against the desk, and stare at the files inside the manila folder.It's contents are as boring as my old life. I've done nothing but sit here since yesterday, when my case was switched.Out of the corner of my eye, I see Austin watching me, making sure I'm doing my work.I stare over at Robert's seat.He's gone, out doing MY case.
By noon, I'd had enough.As soon as Austin entered his office, I grabbed my things, and made my way to Jyoshi's office.
I knock before entering.
"Mr.Jyoshi, I just got a call about uh an urgent family affair.May I go home and work on my case there?", I ask waving my folder.
He nods.
"Yes, of course! Is everything okay?"
I almost laugh at his gullibility.
"I, uh, have to go check on my mom!", I lie and storm out.I make my way to my car, laughing. Next stop, the slums of Kobe.
