To my little sister who listened to me when I explained this story to herJ
Chapter 1
What to wear? What to wear? Something that will help me fit in and look invisible or something totally off the charts that will blow everyone away I thought as I stared into my somewhat sparse closet.
“Sutton get your lazy butt down here and make me some breakfast”, my mother screeched.
She hates me. Im not even joking she really, really hates me sometimes when she’s glaring daggers into my back.
I get feeling she would like nothing better than to split my guts open and laugh at the mess she had made. Yep, you know you have it bad when your mother hates your guts so much she’d like to kill you.
Im not one of those types that spend there whole life moaning over it, because soon enough I’ll be out of here and god knows where she’ll be. Hopefully nowhere near me. Sighing I look out of window nice weather I thought good for taking pictures in. So that my mother didn’t go bananas I quickly dug out my favourite white tank top with various coloured triangles.
A pair of navy blue skinny jeans, a black leather jacket and my favourite pair of high top, bright yellow converses. I grab a pair of dark shades and with a swipe of my customary bright red lip gloss I grab my school bag and run down the stairs.
My mother was in the kitchen wrapped in a long, green silk robe which probably cost a fortune not that she cares of course, leave it all up to Sutton to pay I thought to myself bitterly.
Her perfect blonde hair fell down her back, glossy and shimmering in the light in such an effortless way that it would make any girl jealous even me if I didn’t now how much time and money it took for her to look like a 30 something year old supermodel.
Her seemingly perfect, unwrinkled face turned and I found myself looking into pale icy blue eyes glaring murderously at me.
“Where have you been I called for you 10 minutes ago and when I call for you stop whatever you were uselessly doing and get here? You’re such a disappointment Sutton no wonder your father left! I know I would!”
Ouch she pulled the daddy card out. Don’t go feeling sorry for me now, just because poor, unfortunate Sutton is like 37% of the population who doesn’t have her father in her life. Honestly it’s no big deal. One day he was just there, the next he was gone.
I don’t mind much when mum mentions him and how Im such a ‘disappointment’ to him because I know why he left I was there after all.....
*Flashback*
I was sitting at the top of the stairs in my sponge bob square pants pyjamas sucking my thumb and watching anxiously as my mother had one of her many fits and threw things at my Father. But this time was different daddy was in his uniform and at the end of the hallway near the front door was the big suitcase we used when we went to Spain on holiday last summer. We never went on holiday before because daddy was an important man and busy all the time.
It was fun, me and daddy went swimming, went looking for shells and made sandcastles the only bad part was when I saw mummy kissing a man that wasn’t daddy! I frowned as I remembered, mummy was really mad that I told so mad that she slapped me really hard. That just made daddy mad too and we went home that night leaving mummy in Spain.
I didn’t like them fighting so I decided to keep quite about all the other men who came to our house when daddy was away and daddy forgave her eventually when she convinced him that the Spanish man kissed her first. I wander what mummy did this time. I decided to listen into there conversation hoping to find out the problem so I could fix it.
“Ive had enough Stacy, don’t you think I don’t know about all those times you cheated on me when I was away at work”, daddy shouted.
“I wouldn’t have cheated if you were at home more Jonathon, I was lonely what else was I supposed to do with that stupid brat always asking when’s daddy coming home?”, mummy screamed back.
“Don’t you dare call our daughter a brat you ungrateful, cheating, witch, I should never have married you! In fact the only reason I did was because of that so called brat”, daddy said heatedly his face red in anger.
Then he picked up his suitcase opened the door and was about to step out when he stopped short like he had forgotten something important. He looked over his shoulder and green eyes met green, for a second he looked conflicted but only for a second before he spun on his heel, walked out the house and slammed the door behind him.
That was the last time I ever saw my daddy.
*Flashback Ended*
As I zoned back in I picked up a piece of toast “Oh please, don’t even bother we all know he left because of your lying, cheating ways” I said grinning at the mad expression on her face which was quickly replaced by a triumphant one.
“Well he left you with me didn’t he? Shows how much he cares” she said snidely.
Huh she got me there. I narrowed my eyes at her as she smirked knowing full well that she’d won. Bitch. I glanced up at the clock hanging over the kitchen cupboards and had a panic attack. I was going to be late, very late.
Oh not again, Im already in deep trouble with Ms Huragun for taking pictures of her and Mr Smith kissing in her car and printing it in the school newspaper. How the hell was I supposed to know Mr Smith was married and had kids if it’s anyone’s fault it’s hers. I mean who kisses a married man anyways?
I was in my old beat up mini-car when I remembered Id left my camera in my room. I ran quickly into the house to get it. There’s no way of avoiding it Im going to be late for sure now. Oh well bring it on Ms Huragun. I’ve got loads of more pictures Im sure you would be very interested in......
