"Wake up, Ruben!" called his mom. "Time for school."
Ruben sleepily got out of bed and brushed his teeth. He dressed and then went to the kitchen and gobbled up his breakfast: smiley face blueberry pancakes with maple syrup and a glass of orange juice.
"Bye, Mom," called Ruben.
"Bye," his mom answered.
Ruben rushed to the bus stop where he found his bus waiting for him.
"Ding Dong "rang the school bell.
Ruben's bus reached the school just in time. Everyone rushed inside, making the hallways very crowded. Ruben pushed through until he got to his Grade 6 class.
Ruben was a ten-year-old boy. He had black hair with short bangs. He always wore his favourite brown and white baseball cap.
It was summer but cloudy, so Ruben had taken his sweatshirt along. He was wearing light green shorts, a green and yellow-striped shirt, and dark green shoes.
The first period was MATH. The students were having a test on multiplying and dividing four-digit numbers by four digits. Ruben put his test in the checking machine which checked quizzes, worksheets, and other projects. He got 99 percent.
The next period was GYM. The children played soccer; Mrs. Leon's class against Mr. Gerrin's class.
Ruben was in Mrs. Leon's class. The game was tied two to two. Just at the last moment, Lauren from Mr. Gerrin's class scored a tricky goal.
"Good Goal," said their gym teacher, Mrs. Savon.
"Three to two," cried Lauren. "We won!"
Her classmates rushed over to give her a high-five. All were cheering and expressing their joy.
"Woo-hoo," they shouted.
Ruben threw his baseball cap to the ground in anger.
"It was just a Soccer game. Don't be so angry," said Max, one of the best soccer players in the class, and also one of Ruben's friends.
Max was wearing dark blue Adidas shoes with light blue shorts. He was wearing a shirt that said BOYS RULE.
"Off you go. Don't be late for Chemistry class," cried Mrs. Savon.
In CHEMISTRY, the students were going to mix calcium carbonate and citric acid. They were also going to try to make concrete. Their chemistry helper was Nesa. Whenever they had chemistry, children from the high school came to help. Nesa was tall and friendly. She had short blonde hair and green eyes.
The recess bell rang. The children grabbed their sweatshirts and ran outside.
