WARNING: IF YOU USE BASES AND ARE TRIGGERED, LEAVE BEFORE YOU GET MAD!!

So today I will be ranting about bases. Oh, how I hate them! M'kay lets start. So bases, if you don't know what they are, are hairless, clothes less (not in a dirty way! Get your head out the gutter!) models of characters, and to be honest with you all, they absolutely suck.
Bases ruin any potential talent you may have, and are useful in maybe one case only, for a pose, sorry, scratch that, they are still cheating, and you may say "Well, Jace, I'm a beginning artist, and I'm using it to practice hair and clothes." And what I say is, okay first of all, like I've already said, ruin all potential talent, because one you are just being lazy, and two, it's barely your art if you do that.
Let me get this straight though. There is nothing wrong with using a reference photo. Almost every artist uses them, and that's ok. Bases are different though, they are just cheating in my opinion.
Others may say, "But what if I can't find the pose I want?" There are three solutions, 1: get an artist mannequin, they are pretty cheap so it shouldn't be that much trouble. 2: take picture of yourself in the pose you want, it's kind of awkward but it works. Or, 3: have a family member or friend pose for you. The end result for bases if let's be honest it's freaking terrible. I understand drawing bodies can be very difficult but how will, you get better if you keep using bases? You won't. To all the people who make bases, I'm sure you have some talent, so DON'T WASTE IT ON MAKING BASES! Please, ok, it's very hard to make a living off of art, and if your art is called crappy, that should make you want to do better, not use bases! Using a base is only hurting you, you'll lose respect in the art community, you'll never improve and an artist, and the piece doesn't even look good in the end.
Also,  the styles will clash. The respective artist probably has their own style, and every style is different.

You may want to argue with me and say, but Jace! You do not draw! You are right. I don't. Still, though, I have knowledge and strong opinions. I leaned from YouTube. I found drawing tips. I browsed Wattpad and DeviantArt, comparing work without bases to work with bases. And for me, 8/10, people who used bases had worse art.

I rest my case.

Side Note: I wrote late at night, when I was probably cranky.

Peace out! ✌🏻✌🏼✌🏽✌🏿✌🏾
