When He Came Back

Misplaced Feelings

I was looking for someone since morning but I haven't seen him yet. Where could he be?

I was alone in the cafeteria, reading, when Andre rushed towards me like something is wrong. I can see the worry on his face.

"Mia! Mia!" He cried out.

I just stared at him.

"It's Karl." He said while catching his breath.

"Not now Andre. I don't want to hear anything about him." I said as I walked away from him. "Just leave me alone."

"It's also about the new kid!" He shouted.

I stopped. The next thing I know is that I am running with Andre going to the other campus. He told me that Karl learned what happened last Saturday. Karl is totally mad about it that he challenged Ethan to fight. But, Ethan refused, that's why Karl got irritated. Andre didn't know what happened next because he already rushed to the other campus to find me.

When we got there, we saw a bunch of people heading towards the gym. What the hell is happening!?

I saw that Karl and Ethan are very focused on what they are doing. What the? Are they playing basketball? I thought that they're fighting?

I looked at Andre with confusion. He shrugged. We moved around the court to see them clearly.

The students saw me coming and they suddenly moved aside to make way for me. I passed by them coldly. Some are whispering with their friends. Those gossiping bitches. I'm gonna kill you all later, you'll see.

I don't know what those two are up to, but they seem to very serious in playing. I'm used to seeing Karl full of sweat because he's a varsity player of basketball in our school. I also remember waiting for him every time he has training. I love watching him play. He is really dedicated to that sport.

Ethan is very calm but is also sweating, he is two points ahead from Karl. He never lets him score a point, like he's confident that he will win. He is good in playing basketball. Wow! Coach Tan should see how he plays.

10 seconds left and Karl has the ball, he's going to shoot when Ethan winked and smiled at me which causes Karl to be distracted. His shot missed and Ethan wins. I've never seen Karl this focused before, but he still lost.

"You jerk!" I heard Karl shout as he quickly punched Ethan on his face that made him fall to the ground.

Ethan punched him back and they started to fight. I ran towards the middle of the two. "If you're gonna hurt each other! You should hurt me too!" They both stopped.

Karl grabbed my hand and pulled me towards him. My heart raced faster. I can't breath normally.

"She's mine! And only mine!" He shouted that heard all of the students who are there.

I froze after hearing what Karl said. My heart still beats faster. It needs to stop. You need to be strong Mia. I removed his grip from my arm and pushed him away.

"No one owns me." I stated.

His eyes widened. He doesn't know what to say. He tried to hold me again but I avoided his hands. I looked at Ethan and he's smiling. He knows what I am thinking. Then I looked at Karl again.

"You don't own me anymore Karl. We were done two years ago." I continued.

I can see the students looking at me and I can feel the heat on my face. I know I will cry anytime, but I can't show them my weak side.

"Do you like him?" Asked Karl as he pointed at Ethan while looking at me.

"I don't like anyone." I replied him.

"I still like you Mia. I always do. It just happened that..."

"Stop" I cut him off. "I stopped caring the day you.." I pointed at him. "You hurt and left me."

His tears started falling down. Please Karl. Don't do this to me. Then I saw Ethan walking away.

"Ethan." My voice is hoarse.

The students around us were shocked after I called Ethan. It's the first time that I was the one who first called. I heard their whispering. I didn't mind them, all I know is that I should get out of this situation again, and Ethan is the only one who could help me.

"Let's go." He said while extending his hand to me.

I took his hand and walked away with him, leaving everyone behind.
