Chapter 4
By the time I get to the lab it's 6:05. I ran really fast, faster then usual. I'm out of breathe walking up the front steps to the entrance. The guards don't stop me, obviously they know who I am.
I don't exactly know where to go, all I know is I am supposed to be here. I wonder around the lab for a few minutes. It's white all around, with high ceilings. There are many floors that hold information. We have armies of men and women training in the yards surrounding the lab. It almost looks like a fancy jail.
I find myself in the health section. I see my mom siting in a waiting room. She sits legs down, in a thin black dress. Her short black hair, curly and down. She looked worried until she saw me. She stood up and smiled.
"You're lucky there was a patient before you who took longer then expected." She sighs and pulls me towards a chair.
"I lost track of time." I say looking at the floor.
"Well you're just in time now." A women standing at the health section entrance announces. She was short with long blonde hair. She was wearing a white dress that fit her hourglass shape perfectly. I haven't seen her before. "I'm Miss.Traven, follow me." She says walking into the health room. It's huge with a million things connected to another million things. While I'm scanning the room my eyes fall on a boy. Blonde hair, tall, jaw line. At first I don't recognize him. Then I do. It's Nolan.
I stand in shock for a while he hasn't noticed me yet. I'm thankful for that. After all these years he has been a Petra too? I never knew but mind you, no one ever knows.
I feel sick. He is here. I haven't seen him for 3 years. He told me we would he best friends for ever. He lied.
I'm still in a unsettling thought of seeing him, for the first time in 3 years. He promised me so much yet I never received anything, so seeing him brings me despondency. And when our eyes finally meet, it's like a knife stabbed me and twisted my insides. All my feelings rush out like blood pouring from my skin. I smile, then frown, I also smirk, then winch. It's all too confusing. My head spins as I watch all my feelings pour from my heart. I look away. I look away from his meaty green eyes praying on my feelings. He loves to watch me break and fall back together.
Miss.Traven comes over to me "that's Nolan Hermin. He is the rock of life keeper." I look back up to see him coming closer. His crocodiles like reflections coming at me like I'm a fish. I want to swim away but I'm stuck. Once he's close enough, his arms wrap around my body. Squeezing me to death. Okay, okay, I'm over reacting. I like to compare people to animals. It's a problem. I hug him back. I don't know why but I do. It feels wrong.
He pulls away and smiles with his crocodile like teeth. "I'm so sorry." He says putting his hands on my shoulders. "If I ever, ever hurt you, forgive me." He says. I can't say no to him. Even though I know I should.
"Why should i?" I growl. I don't want to forgive him but I also feel like I need to.
"I had no choice but to leave.. my dad was dying. I had too." He says tears forming in his eyes. "I didn't know what to say to you, if I ever called or wrote to you. I thought you'd be mad, but seeing you here, is the best feeling." He finishes, pulling his hands from my shoulders. I nod.
"It's okay." I say half smiling. I'm still wearing his necklace, I don't know why but I've always liked the necklace. He must see the necklace. He puts his hands out and touches it.
"You're still wearing it." He speaks, smiling.
"Yeah." I shyly nod.
"Miss.Peterson." Announces Miss.Traven. I turn my head to her. "We need you over here." I nod and turn back to Nolan.
"I should go." I say shuffling my feet.
"Of course, I'll see you around." He puts his arms around me. When we let go, he walks away. I walk over to the chair where Miss.Traven is standing.
"We've done test on all the Petra's to see who is the Daughter of the Sun is and the Son of the Water. We have samples of the blood of the kings and queens. We need to take some needles and some tests. Is this okay?"
"Yes Miss.Traven." I say relaxing into the chair. She grabs a needled and puts something in it. She injects it into my arm. Right as she does. I fall. Not legitimately but my body feels light. I'm floating in space. All the starts look so peaceful and I feel free. Well until I start to spin and travel very fast. I'm going past planets, I make it to the sun. There is someone else there. It's a boy. I can't see who he is, but he is hidden by water. I'm flying right for the sun. I try to get out of this trance but I can't. While I'm flying, I'm trying to stop flying. I feel the suns hotness coming at me. Will it hurt me? Then, i land of the sun. It doesn't burn. My bare feet feel the rocks. It's rough but not hot. I wake up from my trance sweating. Eyes are around me.
"What did you see?" Asks a new healer.
I sit up. "Well, well I started in space." She writes something down. "I didn't move for a bit. Then I did. I went to the sun. There was someone else there." Miss.Traven shushes me
"did you see who it was?"
"No but it was a boy."
"Anything else?" They both ask
"Uh yeah. I landed on the sun." They all open their eyes a bit wider. They look at each other then back at me.
"Did you feel a burn?" They ask simultaneously.
"No, I felt perfectly normal." I say. They both smile.
