“You promised Nad, you cannot stop now.” Charlie sounded alarmed. “Someday they'll find out Charlie. I don't want to keep lying to everyone.” “They'll only find out when we find our real mate.” “And what do you plan on saying then? Whoops wrong mate?” I challenge. “We'll see when we get there, just don't leave me now.” He pleaded. “No Charlie, this has to stop.” I firmly stated. “Nadya, if you quit I can't become the alpha.” “I know, but I can't act like the Luna while I'm clearly not.” “Nadya, I beg of you, don't leave me alone in this.” “I just can't stand by your side and lead a pack; I can't even get my sister to clean up her room.” I tried to reason with him. Charlie and I have been fighting now for over an hour, and it doesn’t seem like we're close to stopping. Our problem goes like this: Charlie will become our alpha in three days, but he hasn't found his mate yet. Ever since he found me and my little sister Naomi, and saved us from the hell we were living in, he asked me to act like his mate so that he could become the alpha. Desperate as I was at that time I accepted his offer, and have been acting as his mate. So here we are now, three years and a thousand arguments later.

“It's only until I find my mate Nad, I swear.” “And after that? The whole pack will hate me for lying to them.” “That won't be any different than now.” “I love you Charlie, and I'm really grateful for what you did for Naomi and me, but I can't do this any longer.” “I beg of you Nad give me a year, one year that's all I ask. One year to find my mate, and if I don't find her in that year…we'll tell the truth.” I considered his words as I looked closely at Charlie. He was near despair, and I think that if I reject him, he will go mad. Honestly, it's a shame that Charlie is not my mate. He is tall and muscular, his auburn hair is tousled together, and his big brown puppy eyes could’ve been photo shopped on his face. Even though he is not yet the Alpha, he exudes a lot of power. You can laugh with him, and he is very reliable. Basically you have in him the perfect mate. But unfortunately, he is not my perfect mate. Sigh …

“Fine, Charlie, you have a year, but if you have not found her by then we tell everyone, and if I find mine in that year, I do not know if I can stay with you and pretend that I love you.” “I know Nad, thanks a lot!”  He exclaimed excited as he gave me a big hug. “Make sure that you find her Char, maybe you'll be in luck on the annual meeting, and see her there!” Charlie sighed and rubbed his hand over his chin where stubbles were growing. “I hope so Nad, but I feel like she's never going to come.” He said sadly. I wrapped my arms tightly around him and held him against me. “I know that feeling, but do not give up hope, she's waiting for you, and she is looking for you.” He smiled sweetly at me and gave my hand a squeeze. “The same goes for you.”
