The Disappearance of Taylor

Chapter 12

"Why?" Danny questioned as Merrick looked up at him with an indifferent expression on his face.

"Her body's glowing like that because of the energy blast that org- I'm assuming it was an org- fired."

"Can you just tell us why?" Cole was growing surprisingly impatient.

"Yes, tell us," Alyssa agreed.

"I only saw something like this 3000 years ago. I didn't think it could happen again."

"Just spill it, Merrick!" Cole was getting annoyed at Merrick's stalling.

The other Rangers agreed with many gestures.

"Oh, I can't take it anymore!" Merrick shouted. He stood up and stared at them hard. "It means that... she's dying."

Cole was speechless for a moment, then burst out, "What do you mean she's dying?"

"Look," Merrick replied calmly. "3000 years ago, another org, who I think may have been this one, hurt one of the ancient warriors when they left the Animarium for a special mission once. The org struck them and their body started glowing like this. We found them, but barely managed to get them back to the Animarium in time. We knew they were dying, but Princess Shayla used some of her magic to save them."

"Then we have to get her back quick!" Cole exclaimed. "I can see the edge of the city from here!" He picked up the slowly dying Taylor from the ground and ran as fast as he could back to the city and then up to the Animarium.

"She's out of the worst danger now," Princess Shayla sighed when she had finished with Taylor. Alyssa sighed in relief, but Princess Shayla glared at her for a moment. "Just a second, I said she's out of the worst danger. Unfortunately, her remaining wounds are to severe. You must take her down to Earth. She must be hospitalized, for not even my magic can heal all wounds. We will hope that she gets better soon."

Cole sighed and took his friend away once again.

Cole put his hand on Taylor's blood-streaked one right before she was taken away in the small hospital cot. Alyssa whimpered and hugged Cole tightly as she watched her best friend being taken away.

"Even though I never really knew her, I'll miss her; she was the first next Ranger after the ancient warriors," Merrick sighed.

"We all will." Danny laid a hand on Merrick's shoulder.

Cole and the other Rangers soon stood outside of the large, white hospital.

"We'll miss her for a while," whispered Princess Shayla, who had come down to Earth to meet them before they came back.

Cole turned toward the hospital again. "Goodbye, Taylor."
