Harrys lips stay pressed on mine, while his hands find my waist. We both move our mouths in a slow, steady rhythm; he's being gentle with me. My hands move up to his neck, and pull him closer. His skin is soft, and his lips are plump and smooth against mine. Before he can connect his tongue with mine, I lightly push him away on his chest. "Harry what's gonna happen to us?" The warden specifically said no interactions with other patients. If she saw us in this position, who knows what would happen to us.
"What do you mean?" He stays pressed up against me, and his eyes are directly on mine.
"I'm scared, I can't be in here forever. The only way for someone to be released is for a guardian to come get them out, and my father already said he wouldn't. I have no way out of here Harry, I don't know how I'll survive in here." I try to fight back the tears and the burning feeling in my throat, but a few tears escape.
He brings his thumb up to my cheek, wiping away the small tear drop. "Shh, don't cry." His arms wrap around my shoulders and pull me into a suffocating hug. "I don't have anyone to come release me either. I know how you feel, but I promise you, we'll get out of here."
I nod my head into his shoulder. I hope he's serious, that we'll get out of here. I can't even imagine being stuck in here for years on end, it would kill me.
The two of us stood in silence for a few minutes, neither of us knowing what to say next. Rigley's has taken such a toll on me, and I've been here no longer than a week. The continuous darkness, the unhappy people, the filth, it's all so overwhelming and being here in Harrys arms is the most enjoyable thing I've experienced since I've been here.
"We should probably get back, we've been gone for a while." He whispered into my hair.
We both let go of each other and walk back over to the door. Harry unlocks it, slowly opening it for me. "Be as quiet as possible."
I nod, and step into the hallway. I look around, making sure I'm alone. Once I'm sure there's nobody in sight, I turn around and wave for Harry to follow me. He creeps out of the door, and stands next to me. He frowns and cocks his head to the side. "Do you hear that?" He whispers.
"Hear what?" I whisper back.
He holds his finger up to silence me, and peers his head around the corner. "It's Mrs. Gordon." He whips his head back from the hallway to avoid being seen. "She's with that guard, the first guy you had."
Their hushed voices become clearer. "Paul?" I gasp. I was certain that after what he tried to do to me, he would have been fired.
"Yea yea, shh." He tells me. His back is to the wall and his head is peeking out into the hall. I stand cluelessly next to him, having no idea what I should do.
Why would Mrs. Gordon be having secret conversations with Paul? I'm trying to make out what they're saying, but I can only hear bits and pieces of their conversation. "Harry what are they talking about?"
He frowns and purses his lips. "Something about 'The Others', I have no clue what that means." He lets out a sigh. "Mrs. Gordon told Paul to go take care of the others."
I stay motionless, contemplating on my next words. "Do you think, they're talking about other patients? Like, patients we don't know about?"
"I don't know, maybe." His voice was filled with worry. "Oh shit, they're coming! Put your back up to the wall and stay still, I mean it."
I turned around and stood silently against the wall next to Harry. Their footsteps were coming closer and closer, putting me on edge. He grabs my hand and locks my fingers with his. "Shh."
