(A/N: I'm not too sure how different Wattpad is from Quotev but the picture of the child below is the character for Lailen.)

I nervously fiddled with my hands in my lap as Lucas drove us to go pick up Lailen. It had been a long week and after all the paper work and sleepless nights I was itching to head home with Lailen.

"Do you think he'll like me?" I couldn't help but wonder aloud.

"You're kidding right? He'll absolutely love you. I mean he's damn well near a clone of you." Lucas reassured me.

"Okay, I'll take your word." We turned into the parking lot of the home Lailen was at.

"Ready?" Lucas smiled.

"As ready as I can get." I mentally attempted to prepare myself. I was hardly able to comprehend the fact that I was basically becoming a parent. I definitely was not what you would consider a kid person either.

"Lailey, Lucas, Goodmorning!" A woman walked out to greet us, "I'm Susan, I've been Lailen's temporary guardian. Would you two like some coffee?" She shook our hands and ushered us inside her home before we got the opportunity to answer. "Lailen is just getting his things together with my husband then he'll be right down." She handed Lucas a cup of coffee.

"So, how long have you been in charge of Lailen?" I wondered aloud.

"Well, last year he was assigned to me after his teacher reported him having bruises." Her eyes looked dark at the mentioning of this. I winced at the thought of dad hitting a 3-year-old, fragile, little boy. I am so happy we are able to raise him better.

"Thank you very much for being there for him Susan." Lucas said with a friendly smile.

"Alrighty! Everything is packed and ready, Lailen is saying bye to the kids then he'll be down." A tall man, I assumed was Susans husband, said coming down a set of stairs said as he sat down a few bags.

Lucas began to speak with Susan and her husband so I took the moment to take everything in. The house was decently large, it seemed cozy. It smelt fresh like coffee and flowers. There was many wraparound windows that let light drown each room. The house was wonderful; I was actually getting jealous of it.

"Lailen! Hey, buddy!" Lucas' voice called out causing me to freeze like a deer caught in headlights.

Was I ready to do this?

I turned back to the crowd and saw the boy. He did look a lot like me in his own way. He had a pale face and dark hair. He also had dark and narrow eyes like mine.

"Hey." I simply waved in awe.

"Hi." He shyly waved back. "Are you my sister?" His voice was small and gentle.
