I worked on finishing up my last client and handed her a mirror. Excitement flooded her face as she fluffed he newly short hair.

"This is great, thank you. You truly are talented, ma'am." I removed her cloak and shook the hair onto the floor. I had a tendency of being a mess maker when it came to hair cutting. After escorting my client out, I got to sweeping the hair up.

"Hey, Lailey. I hear your brother has moved here. True?" A girly voice jumped from the back walls to me.

"Meghan, you are not going to flirt with my brother. He's still startled from his last visit. If I remember it right you became a little obsessed and called his girlfriend rude names." I reminded the girl approaching me.

"Oh come on, I was not calling her "rude" names." She attempted persuading me.

'Really? Let's see, what was it you said? How about, skinny skank who belongs with a donkey to match her ass-like face." I requoted her words. She acted shocked and offended.

"Me? Say that? No!" She laughed as she tried to defend herself. I raised an eyebrow and tilted my head. "Okay, okay. I was drunk so that's not fair." She continued defending herself.

"Give it up." I groaned.

"Fine. So, how did the trip to Hell Town go?" She sat in my cubes chair.

Meghan had been my best friend since college. I moved here to attend classes for cosmetology where I met her. I got my own flat apartment first thing when I got to L.A. and invited her to be my roommate until we graduated. She learned everything about me and I learned everything about her. Her family was completely opposite from mine. Her family was very supportive and successful; they helped me pay my way through college.

"Horrid, sleepless, lame, but I did get half custody of my youngest bro." I filled her in on everything. I was so caught up in fear and nervousness that I forgot to call her every night. "I'm sorry I forgot to call like I had promised." She smiled.

"I was worried. That's the past though, tell me about your baby brother!" Meghan had always been an in-the-moment type person. She hated living off of past events or wishing for future. She's been very therapeutic to me over the years. She helped me get over my past and expect present to help me through.

"Why tell you about him when you can meet him." She raised her eyebrows. "Lailen! Can you come here please?" I called out for him and he came running from the back door.

"Lailen? His name is basically yours." Meghan was as amused with his name as I had been.

"Yeah, Lailey?" He was very polite as he approached. He had a video game in his hand that hung to his side catching me off-guard.

"Who's game is that?" I pointed to the game and he looked down at it. I didn't want him to play video games for any longer than an hour a day. It wasn't good for him.

"Uh, I don't know, it's a guys. He has spikey black hair. He's wearing the same thing as you." He shrugged. I thought of his description.

"Todd!" I called to the back and a man approached.

"Yeah?" He patted his legs confused.

"Is that your game?" He looked at Lailen and nodded.

"Lailen, give Todd his game back. Thank you for letting him barrow it." Lailen did as I said also thanking Todd. Todd patted his head and headed back to his station. Todd was a good guy, he was a few years younger than Meghan and I but he was great with his job.
