"Huh?..." you grumble as you blink rapidly to adjust to the light. As soon as your vision clears, you yelp at the sight of a goat creature kneeling beside the bed you were laying on. The concerned look stretched across her face turned into a smile. "No need to be afraid my child. I am Toriel, caretaker of the ruins you have been exploring." You smile back.

"Sorry. I'm just not used to waking up to a monster beside my bed."

Toriel laughed. "Oh, you're funny. What's your name, my child?"

"(Y/n)." You thought for a moment before continuing. "Some of the monsters down here are very.... interesting."

"Ah. Yes, (y/n), they have not seen a human in a while. You probably understand that."

     "Of course!"

It was silent for a few seconds before Toriel spoke.

     "Would you like some pie?"

Right at the thought, you realized you were starving. "I could eat."

"Alright then! I'll be right back. You stay here. That was quite a beating you took earlier."

You nodded, and Toriel left the room. Still being tired, you slowly drifted off to sleep.

     "Hey, that's a wonderful idea!"

     You were confused.

     "Frisk's first genocide run."

You jumped. Turning around, you saw Cat. "DON'T do that ever again."

     Cat shrugged helplessly.

"I don't get it though. Her first genocide run? How can she already not be showing any emotion?"

"That's what mass murderer does to people. It makes them unable to feel many emotions, like fear."

Even though you knew what was going on was serious, you stifled a giggle once you saw the knife Frisk was holding was made of plastic. "I-is that a..."

"Toy knife? Heh. Yeah. What she had before was a stick."

You started to laugh a little. "Killing people... with a stick?"

Cat seemed annoyed that you broke the mood. "Ugh. This is serious, (y/n)."

You couldn't stop giggling. "And the monsters were afraid of her... a stick is officially a murderer weapon! Hee hee!"

You didn't notice the skeleton brothers.

Cat suddenly grabbed you by the shoulders and made you face her. "Listen, (y/n). This may seem funny now, but you don't have much time! Frisk. Will. Be. Here. Soon. And she isn't afraid to kill you. You need to be a little more serious. Ok?"

You were able to snap back to reality. "Ok. I'm sorry."

     "Good."

You opened your eyes. The room was dark. But through the darkness, you could make out a slice of pie on the floor. You smiled, and sat up in your bed. Thanks to the bandages Toriel had applied, your wounds have healed. After removing the bandages, you got out of bed and picked the pie off the ground. A fork was on the plate as well, so you didn't have to eat the pie with your hands. Taking a bite, your mouth watered. It was the best pie you ever tasted. You shoveled some more into your mouth before placing it on a dresser so you could eat the rest later.

You opened the door to your room and walked down a hallway and into the living room where Toriel was located. You couldn't stay here. Not after what Cat told you. "Uh... Toriel?"

"Oh! You're awake. What do you need?"

"I can't stay here. There are some things that I have to do." You preferred not to go in on the details.

Toriel seemed to understand. "Of course, (y/n). I can't keep you here. The ruins are quite small once you get used to them. You're an adult, I can't just let an adult stay here!" She laughed.

"So I can leave... tomorrow morning?"

A nod from Toriel. "I can give you items to take for your trip, if that's what you prefer, my child."

You smiled. "Thank you so much!"

Toriel smiled back. "Yes. Now, you should get some rest, my child. You will have a long journey ahead of you."

That was sensible. You nod and head back to your room. Some of the items around the room intrigued you, so you walked around the room looking at the different objects. A drawing of a golden flower was framed on the wall. There were some toys at the foot of your bed. It was all so new. The people, the area, the sleeping schedule. You tried to ignore all info while you finished the slice of pie and laid back in bed.

     Your sleep was dreamless.

When you woke up, you found clothes at the edge of your bed. A (f/c) t-shirt, grey leggings, (f/c) boots and a exceptionally large (f/c) scarf. You put on the clothes, and threw out the worn ones. As you walked out of your room, Toriel rushed up to you and handed you your bag, but it seemed that she had made some adjustments. "I've made it a little bigger for you my child, and patched up the holes that were in it." You imagined the monster must have worked all night on fixing your bag, since your once small satchel was now an exceptionally large backpack. You smiled gratefully and quickly walked back into your room to grab your scythe. To your delight, the Toriel had situated the backpack with a pocket to fit the top half of your scythe. After fitting the weapon into the backpack, you slid it over your shoulders and met Toriel by a set of stairs.

"Thank you so much for your hospitality." You said. Toriel nodded and handed you two plastic containers: one contained another slice of pie, and the second contained a couple of donuts that looked like they were made of spiders??? Oh well. You weren't picky. She led you to a set of doors, gave her a hug, thanked her again, and left.
