The excitement Luke gave everybody when he spoke was so powerful and cheerful, that everybody ran to the first pyramid they saw.
So big was the excitement that Luke gave that made everybody choose the wrong pyramid. The pyramid they went into, was demolished in the year 1859 to see what was inside, so the people that demolished it made all kinds of traps for very intelligent minds, and they were very dangerous. If you really think that in 1859 people had no electric stuff, you’re wrong. They had all kinds of electric stuff, but their expectations of ‘electric’ was not as big as ours. Going back to the story, the pyramid that they were supposed to go into had very stupid traps, you could say, they just wanted to scare you a little bit when you got trapped. They were all very fake and nothing really happens to you, you just got scared.
So when they got into the real pyramid, the one they weren’t supposed to go into, the door closed, and a giant pile of rocks was thrown from the ceiling in front of the door, so that they couldn't escape.
Luke was kind of impressed, he was thinking: ‘How could the company that makes the fake pyramids be so intelligent? The traps are really good! Oh look! These girls are seriously scared! Maybe it’s just because they’re girls... girls always get really scared, right?’
But after some time, he started reasoning: ‘Well... now that I think about it... is this the right pyramid? Oh no... this is not the right pyramid! The pyramid we’re supposed to be in didn't have this trap! Oh man, what am I gonna do?! Okay, stay calm so that no one suspects anything. We’ll get out of here and then I’ll tell them what happened.’ Now, that is a stupid thing to think, if you know anything about real pyramids. The one thing that even affects Luke’s knowledge about pyramids, is pride. He thought he could get out of the pyramid on his own. He should know that it is very hard to get out of a pyramid. Very hard...
So he told the girls that the traps were all fake and that he wasn’t supposed to say it, but he did anyway because he knew that they were scared and that they might faint if he kept lying. The weird thing is that the girls believed his excuse and they really felt seriously scared, though knowing the ‘secret’ calmed the girls down just a little bit. Suddenly, Doofy saw a button on the wall. Actually, there were two buttons, one that said ‘AUTO DESTRUCTION’, and the other one said ‘EMERGENCY ESCAPE’ in egyptian. Luckily, Doofy saw the ‘EMERGENCY ESCAPE’ button, and he didn’t know what it meant! But unfortunately, Luke told him not to press it because he thought it would be another trap. Then Luke got close to the two buttons, and read the one that said ‘AUTO DESTRUCTION’ (he had studied egyptian for 5 years, just to get this job). “See, I knew that it would be bad for you to press it! I mean... Doofy, don't press it. I’ve seen the special effects they have for this part. They aren’t really good. Just... Just don’t press it, okay?” said Luke nervously.
Doofy answered a sad “okay”, but he really meant: ‘Sorry for disturbing, I won’t do it again, though its no big deal.’ because he knew that the pyramid was real, as he had been in many of these tours with Luke before.
Luke suggested everyone stay where they were, and he said that the traps that were waiting for them where very bad and you could notice they were fake, and he was too embarrassed to let them see them. But he was just scared of dying. But Claire wanted to test Luke to see if he was scared of his own traps, because he was acting a little too weird, or if he was just pretending to make her and Lucy feel a little scared, so she said that it would be better to try to get out of here because if they didn't try to escape, they would never escape, and miss all the fun. Lucy just wanted adventure, after all, it was the reason why she came: to learn stuff another way by looking for adventure, so she agreed with Claire. Doofy just picked the majority, that means he picked Claire. Luke, crushed with a ‘No escape’ option, had to follow Claire.
So everybody started walking, for a long time.
There was a lot of silence, and Claire decided to break it herself.
“So... about tonight... is it a date?”
“Um, I dunno. What would you call it?” Luke asked.
“A date, I think...”
But the topic Claire had chosen just made another... wait for it!... Awkward moment ...
“So... do you like the pyramid for now?” asked Luke, just to make a normal conversation.
Everybody realized that they were all focused on the date-not-date thing between Claire and Luke, and they weren’t paying any attention to the pyramid. And if they had, they would have noticed the writing on the wall and the ancient drawings. Up ahead, there was a really small tunnel, but it was big enough for a person to fit in.
“Yeah, it actually seems so real... seriously” answered Lucy, who started to pay attention to her surroundings.
After that, a boring while passed when everybody was in their own world, Claire was thinking about whether her date-not-date answer was the right one; Lucy was pretty excited with the pyramid and all, Luke was thinking about whether he should tell everybody this wasn’t the pyramid where they were supposed to be; and Doofy was just wishing for the tour to end. Right after this tour, his parents come home, so he could go home and play some video games or just have more fun than being at a pyramid.
When everybody started getting bored of their own thoughts, they suddenly saw themselves facing a very dangerous tunnel, which no one volunteered to go through. It was the same one they would have seen, if they hadn’t been so distracted a while back. . It had an enormous sharp blade, its end was full of dry blood from ancient times, and it was hanging and balancing in a torturous manner in the middle of the deathly tunnel.
