Their Journey [DISCONTINUED]

When Monsters Attack

The room suddenly goes black and green lines streak across the walls, a giant white frog looking thing with a black sad face on its stomach appears in front of me. I grip my knife as white fly looking things come sailing at me, *i don't know what these are, but I'm not taking any chances!* I do my best to dodge the white things. My natural abilities seem to be amplified, and there's some sort of green light coming from my chest, I ignore it and concentrate on dodging. As soon as the barrage stops I grip my knife and attack the frog, slicing at it right down the middle, my knife leaves a red slicing animation in the air. Almost immediately after my attack the frog turns to dust and the black drains away back to the normal colours of the room. I sigh in relief as I continue on my way.

As I continue to walk forwards I start feeling a burning sensation on my chest just below my collarbone, I pull the collar of my big sweater away from my chest and look down, in the dim light I can see some discolouration and assume that its just some damage that was done during the fight *one of the white things must've hit me. I think dismissively, but my mind keeps going back to it. The next room is larger and more rectangular with a light pink design on the ground *that looks a bit out of place...* I ignore it considering I don't really understand much about where I am anyways. Vines cover the sides of the room *this place looks so... abandoned* i glance over to my right and see that the room funnels into a small hallway. figuring there's no point in going back the way i came I continue forwards down the hallway.

Right as I enter the hallway another frog thing attacks me and the world becomes devoid of colour and green lines sprawl across the walls and ground. The strange green light appears again, emanating from... me. Snapping my attention back to the battle i attack. I slash at it, a red line traces where my knife slashed through its flesh. The frog turns to dust almost immediately. The colour slowly returns to the room, the burning sensation from earlier starts up again and I start to wonder what's going on. *Okay,  I'm sure I didn't get hit, it didn't even attack me!*  i pull back the thick fabric of my green sweater to take a look at my chest and see a very faint outline of what looks like a face growing across my chest. *what the hell?* I bite my lip and wonder if it's just my eyes playing tricks on me. *maybe if I can find a light...* I glance around and realize that there is no visible light source, the cave appears to be glowing as if it was a room with a glass roof. *the hell?* I look above me to see if there is any kind of light source I can see, but none appear to be visible. *well that's just dandy ain't it? I'm in some cave thing, with some strange glowing things that look like stars, giant black and white frogs, what seems like glowing bricks and God knows what else!  Frustrated I let go of the cloth as it snaps back to its postion on my chest. I continue onwards as I continue to try to figure out where I am and how to escape.

My stomach rumbles as I start down the curved hallway, half way Down the hallway I see a plache. But before I can reach it a fox like creature with fire red fur and yellow paws and tail tips. The creature had blood red eyes with no pupils. Its eyes seemed to glow as it whipped its two large tails around behind it. The room once again drained of all colour and green lines once again dripped along the walls and floor. I sighed in exasperation *how many of these monsters are there down here?!*  before I could react the monster attacked me, throwing balls of white fire at me. One went whizzing by my head on the right side, so close I could hear the crackle as it whipped by sending a wave of hot pain through my face. Burning the ends of my hair. It was then i realized that the green light had reappeared, emanating from my chest. I took a quick glance down and saw a small lime green heart, floating just in front of the center of my chest. Preoccupied by the strange heart I feel a firey pain explode through my right arm, causing me to drop my knife. I crumple to the ground in pain, waiting for the monster to strike the killing blow. But it never seems to come, I squint up at the creature which is standing about three feet away, staring at me. Staring at me with those dead eyes.  I take advantage of its stupidity and scramble to get my knife. Once I grap the cold polished wood of the handle I leap at
the creature, it must have been startled because instead of leaping out of the way it just stood there. My knife slashes through its torso, leaving a red trail, but instead of the creature bleeding small dust particles start to peel away from its hind legs and tails.
"Shoulda killed me when ya had the chance"
what I meant to come out as a powerful statement came out as barely a whisper due to my dry throat, I really need to find some water... I snapped out of my thoughts right as the creature lunged at me with its claws. Before it could reach me I dove to the right, saving myself from its sharp claws. Taking advantage of my new position I slice at its right side. This seems to have done it as it disagrentates into a pile of dust just beside me.

The normal colours of the world start to return as I start to drift off into unconsciousness.

I snap back to consciousness once one scary thought crosses my mind.
I can't feel my arm.
I sit bolt upright and immediately look at my right arm. What the actual hell. I'm not sure what was scarier, the fact that my flesh was charred and the sleeve of my sweater was gone, or the fact that here was only a dull pain emanating from it.

I couldn't really think of how to keep the chapter going without having to change the title, and school and homework have been a bit overwhelming lately.
So, I most likely won't be writing in any more monster fights as they're very time consuming and I don't want to make the chapters too too long. if you have any suggestions on how I could do this cleanly and well,  leave it in the comments!
