When I Say Run, Run! (Ruby Redfort x reader)

What now?

"Ruby." (Y/N) groaned. "Ruby," she groaned louder.

The sudden realisation of what happened came back and hit her.
"Ruby!" She yelled, sitting up. Her head hit something and she cringed in pain.

"Ah!" It cried as they came in contact. Thud.

(Y/N)'s vision was blurry. She put on her glasses, as she noticed that she needed more contacts. She peered down at the figure on the floor.

"I come and save you from being kidnapped while you at knocked out, and this is the thanks I get?"

"Hitch?" (Y/N) said, quietly, watching as he sat back on the chair beside her.

"Yeah. It's me."

"Are you okay?" She asked.

"Lay back down." He said. "I need to finish your head."

"M-my head? What's wrong with it?" She asked, panicking.

"You just have a graze on it. That's all." He smiled. "It's from where you fell."

"Fell?" She paused for a moment. "Ruby! Where's Ruby?!"

"I don't know. But Blacker is working on it. We will go soon."

"Could her kidnapping be linked to the others?" (Y/N) asked curiously.

"We think it is." He said. "But first we need to stop by our friends on the ambassador line, to check out the footage."

(Y/N) nodded.

About two hours later, Hitch and (Y/N) had recorded all the footage and were watching it in one of Spectrum's rooms. (Y/N) paused it at the moment Ruby was taken.

Hitch stared at the screen. "They seem so familiar."

"They do. I recognise them."

Bullets whizzed around. The baby was put into someone else's arms.
"Keep her safe." A women's voice said.

"I'll look after her." He cradled her and held her close. "You can count on it."

"Earth to (L/N)? Hello."

"Oh, sorry. I remembered something."

"What was it?"

"I don't know, but a baby was given to someone." She paused. "And I think that baby was me."

Hitch changed the subject quickly. "Let's go back to the place where Redfort was taken. We will look for some evidence. So far there seems to be at least one piece left behind. They could be a link."

"That or a dead end."

"Either way, its worth checking out."

(Y/N) noticed something shine on the road as they drove by.

"Hitch, stop. I saw something." She said.

She got out and walked back. Then, picking up the object, a tear drizzled down her cheek.

"What's up?" He asked, helping her up. She turned and hugged him, crying into his blazer.

"It's.... it's.... Ru-by's r-ring." She sobbed. "The one Clancy gave her."

"Hey, we will find her. And everything will be okay." Hitch reassured her. "Come on. Let's get you back. It's been a long day for you. And I can hear some (insert favourite drink here) calling your name."

(Y/N) smiled at his attempt to make her happy. She looked up at the sky.

"Oh? Ruby, where are you?"
