Maybe everything would actually be okay, she thought as she made her way to the car.
------
Laughter echoed in the small diner. Loud, boisterous, obnoxious laughter rang in her ears.
Her head was warm. The red of a blush traveled from the entirety of her face to the tips of her ears. She's never been a fan of being embarrassed but she let them have their fun. Especially if her embarrassment was found amusing by a softly grinning somebody sitting across from her.
"No, no, but the way she like leaped in the air was so dramatic and unexpected. It was so funny," a giggling Dinah said from her right. The woman had found the reminiscing of last night's endeavors to be particularly hilarious. A sentiment echoed by Lauren, Normani and even Ally.
Camila was beyond flustered at this point. She sort of hoped that the cushioned seat that she was sitting in would suddenly engulf her and drag her down into some bottomless pit. It was that bad.
"I didn't know those noodle arms could even pack that kind of punch. David has such a nice black and blue bruise under his eye. And don't even get me started on how puffed up William's nose is," Dinah spurred on because frankly, even if someone told her to shut up, she wasn't going to.
"Oh, God," Camila mumbled out. "Can one of you do something about her, please? Maybe throw a muzzle on her or something," she pleaded.
She was answered in two ways. One, by a slap on the back of her head from Dinah. "Oww." "You're so damn rude, Walz." And two, by an actual answer from the giggling person to her left.
"I would but, this is actually quite funny so, no," Lauren said, in the midst of her laughter. Camila turned to look at her and eyed her before speaking, "gee, thanks Lo. You are so helpful."
Lauren replied in kind by giggling further and kissing her forehead. "You're welcome bub."
"Anyway, I mean surely you're making Ally uncomfortable. I did assault her boyfriend and that is no laughing matter...Sorry about that by the way," Camila said, still trying to steer the conversation away.
Unfortunately, much to her horror and disappointment, the eldest one across from her and next to Normani only shrugged in reply.
"I'm not uncomfortable. Besides, he deserved it. I don't know if any of y'all have realized this but he's kind of an asshole to people who aren't me," Ally said, rather nonchalantly at that.
The other four occupants of the table just looked at her in wonderment. Ally, for her part, just ignored them and smiled politely at the waiter coming over with their food.
"Well, she's not really wrong," Normani mumbled under her breath. This gained a giggle from Camila who seemed to be the only one who acknowledged what she had said. She threw the smaller woman a wink before she begun to poke at her scrambled eggs.
"Thank you," Lauren said to the waitress after she placed the final plate down, which was hers. She took a second to unabashedly check her out as she walked away.
"Anygay-" she started but was cut off by the childish giggles that expelled from both Dinah's and Camila's lips. She only shook her head at the two to her right before continuing.
