2021 – Almost 5 Years Later – Camila

------

Things change in five years. The people change. The economy changes. The politics change.

For instance.

Five years ago, the President of the United States was Barack Obama and now it's Hillary Clinton.

Five years ago, you would never find Camila Cabello lying on her stomach in the middle of the ocean. Hell, you would never find her like that two years ago. But that's exactly how she was at six-thirty on a Thursday morning.

She was resting on a deep red short board since the waves were practically nonexistent. Her head was resting on her left arm, while the right was elbow deep in the water. She was straining her eyes against the rising sun as she stared at her best friend.

Elodie Yetide Madero was a twenty-five year old woman of Spanish and Jamaican heritage. She stood at five foot eight with expressive hazel eyes and rich chocolate skin. She was covered in just about as many tattoos as Camila – which at this point in time equaled a sleeve, a half sleeve and others sporadically placed.

In fact, about 83% of them they got together.

Camila had met the other woman a couple of months after she quit Fifth Harmony at a song writing workshop in LA. They've been best friends ever since.

Elodie was lying on her own dark green short board – except she was on her back and pretty much all of her limbs hung over the sides and into the water. She was humming a melody that sounded suspiciously like one of Camila's own songs.

Which is why Camila was staring because she couldn't figure out what song it was because apparently it was too early for her brain to function.

Also worth noting, is the fact that she's released over eighty songs like a mad woman in the last three years. Really, she couldn't be judged for not remembering one.

A shifting movement across from her brought Camila out of her apparent zone out.

Elodie was beginning to turn her and her board to the side, using her arms in the water to steer. Camila was about to ask her what she was doing, but she got a little distracted.

Bright hazel eyes met a warm brown and Camila was trying a little too hard to make it seem like her breath didn't catch in her lungs. Like her unspoken question wasn't left dangling in the air.

But that's what you get when you've developed not so friendly feelings for your best friend. It wasn't her fault, entirely. Her best friend was charming in both personality and looks. It couldn't be helped.

Elodie jokingly narrowed her eyes at her friend before speaking, "is there a reason that you're looking at me with a very constipated look on your face?"

Camila scoffed in mock offense, her face morphing into a sarcastic frown. She propped her head in her left hand as she got an idea.

She pulled her right hand out of the water, cupping the water in it, before tossing it at her friend. A couple of drops landed on the other woman's face, a soft chuckle leaving her mouth because of it.
