Abi got permission to use the van to drive all of us to Paul's. It's not really a long drive, only about ten minutes. Our shift starts at two and we had lunch late because... well you know why.

Before we know it the huge 'Paul's' sign appears and everyone starts getting ready to unbuckle and start working. Abi drops us off and we all walk in through the back workers' entrance.

As we get inside and settle down, the workers we're switching with finish up their orders. "Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, we work here from two to closing time which is 9:00. Then, two people have to stay and clean. Today, those two people are you and Zach." I try to say as nicely as I can to Niall.

"Sav..." Zach says knowing I lied to try to get out of cleaning.

"Fine. I meant the two people cleaning today is Zach and me." I mumble.

Niall looks intently at me while slowly nodding as if hesitating.

"You, Zach, and Jake stay at the cash registers to seat people at tables and check them out," I say before hearing Jake, Abi, Zach, and Iris start laughing.

"Oh grow up!" I said while throwing a dirty rag next to me on the counter and throwing it aimlessly at them. When I look back at Niall, he's smirking.

"Ugh, you know what? I you're going to take this as a joke why even bother to listen to me?" I said while walking past him.

"Savannah, I'm sorry. What'd I do wrong?" He says while chasing after me.

"You came here, that's what you did. You came to our foster house and ruined our family!" I softly yelled since we were in the lounge and customers could still possibly hear.

"You think it's easy being new here? That I can just be transferred to a new foster house cause my own foster parents didn't even want me or Justin anymore and be loved by other siblings?" he asks, his eyes getting darker and his fists rolling up as if he'd punch me any second now. But somehow, I knew he wouldn't hurt me.

"I'm...I'm sorry okay, it's just that I've been with my foster family for so long and I don't really like newcomers. I guess I pretty much hate the world, because it seems like the world has always hated me."

Right after I basically explain my life, Niall steps towards me and wraps his arms around me. It's a weird feeling. To be hugged by a stranger. Is he a stranger? Is 'weird' really the feeling I'm feeling?'

For the first time in what seems like forever, I hug someone back. And actually mean it.

"Huh hmm," someone fake coughs. I look up and see Abi and Iris standing at the door raising their eyebrows. And so my sincerity pretty much gets cut in half, and trust me, even as a full, my sincerity wasn't that much.

"C'mon lovebirds we gotta get workin!" Iris jokes.

I glare at her before unwrapping my arms from around Niall. "Get to work right after you give your goodbye kisses!" she says while her and Abi go back to work.

"Savann-"

"Just stop," I whisper/mumble and I feel a lump in my throat. I run out before I can start crying and try to distract myself by pacing back and forth.

"Jake!" I run up to him at the cash register.

"Yep?"

"Can you train Niall for me? I'm really not in the mood," I plead.

"Ehh, I don't know... doesn't sound like there's anything I'd get bac-"

"I'll close up one day for you!" I say before he could finish.

"Ooo!! Now that I will agree to!" he says in a girly voice.

"Hey Niall!" He gestures Niall to come her by waving his hand to us.

"W-what's up?" Niall slowly walks towards us.

Before he could get any closer to us, I turn and walk in the other direction to the nearest table I see that hasn't been served.

Before I know it, it's 8:50 and it doesn't look like anymore customers will come in so we start closing up. I managed to keep low and avoid contact with Niall the whole shift. Of course there were a few awkward moments when our eyes met but I just ignored them and kept taking orders of customers.

"I'll pick you guys up whenever your ready!" Abi yells as the four of them walk out.

"I'll get the dishes!" Zach says while walking over to the kitchen.

"I'll mop!" I mimic.

After mopping the floor, I go get a rag to wipe the tables.

"Sooo, you and Niall huh?" he asks. I look at him as he's sitting on a stool by the counter.

"No! Never!"

"Ha! That's not what Abi said!"

"Do you believe everything you hear?"

"Pretty much."

"So how's your girlfriend?"

"Good actually. I might date this one for a week"

"Girls aren't toys ya know."

"Then why do they make Barbies?" He tests me and takes steps towards me just like when he convinced me to be nice to Niall.

Somehow his eyes freeze my actions and keep me glued to the floor.

"See?Every girl falls for me!"

One more step and you could literally put a newspaper between us and have it not fall.

As his face gets closer, my heart melts more and more.

And closer.

And clos-

"Umm,"

We both turn our head to the door and see Niall slowly stepping back.

"A-Abi wanted me to pick you guys up" he cautiously says looking at me with hurt clearly in his eyes.
