"We will need to keep a sharp eye on Number 634. The warden gave specific instructions to figure out his motives," he spoke firmly, unaware of the sad glint that raced across her eyes.
"Of course sir," she replied back stiffly. Of course if the warden was involved he would do anything.
"Damn that Hajime. Making it more difficult for the rest of us and now we have to watch is building while he's suspended. If it wasn't for the warden's request, uh," Kenshirou stopped shortly, noticing the female officer not walking next to him like she usually was. "Officer (L/N)? Why have you stopped walking?"
She looked up in shock, not having noticed that she had stopped and shook her head clear of thoughts before catching up to the tall man. The man that made her heart both race and break at the same time. "S-sorry sir, I got lost in thought that's all. At least your the first one to take his place so it will be over soon right?" she smiled, causing the dog's face to heat up slightly.
Kenshirou starred at her for a moment, "Yeah, over quickly. But enough about work yes? I'm not crazy about work like that damn gorilla. Tell me, how are you and the guy your seeing doing?"
She was surprised that he remembered that, after all she didn't see herself important enough in his life for him to care, but her eyes watered slightly at the memory of who was now her ex-boyfriend, "Oh uh we aren't seeing each other anymore unfortunately, sir."
He noticed the hesitation in her voice and the way her eyes gathered water in her long lashes, "That is unfortunate. He was a fool for letting such a kind woman go."
She giggle slightly and whipped her eyes before the moisture escaped, "I was the one who broke it off, sir."
"Really? Why? If I recall correctly, you seem to really enjoy that man's company," he asked gently, not wanting to upset her any further than she already appeared to be.
"I-it's a funny story actually," she started as they walked into their shared office, "I started seeing him because I wanted to get another off my mind, but it didn't work like I wanted it too. Every time we did something together I could only envision me and the other man that I love doing it. I didn't want to lead him on any more so I told him. He said he understood and could tell that I loved another."
Kenshirou sat in his chair, his desk facing hers and her facing him, and rested his arms on the wood top, "So why don't you tell the one you truly love? He would be a fool to not even give you a chance. You are a wonderful women and very strong."
She frowns and glances down sadly, "I can't, the man I love loves another woman and I know I don't stand a chance. He doesn't even notice me most of the time."
"Then he really is a fool then. Could I possibly know the name of this man?" he asked, his voice tense. How could some man make her feel like she's not important and not give her a single chance.
"Ah I don't think that's a good idea, sir."
"And why not? I would gladly give him a piece of my mind." She covered her eyes with her hair, trying to hide her watering eyes, he really didn't understand. Of course she knew he wouldn't. All he cared about was the warden. She could never compare to her. The warden was beautiful, she was not. "Officer (L/N)? Are you alright?"
That's it, she can't do this anymore, "What if I told you that the fool was you, Kenshirou?" She stood from her chair, not ready to face him now and swiftly walk out the door.
"W-what?" Kenshirou muttered starring at where she had been sitting, finally the words processed, "Wait! (F/N)!" he ran after her.
He was surprised to see how far she had gotten considering the fact that she was simply speed walking and not even running. "Leave me alone."
"I can't. Will you please just stop and listen to what I have to say?" he yelled after her, catching up to the woman quickly. He reached out and grabbed her wrist with just enough force to make her stop. But she didn't turn around. "What did you say?"
"The fool is you, Kenshirou. I'm in love with you but I know I have no chance, you love the warden. Your so loyal to her and I'm just a small pup under your care. I knew I would never get my chance with you and that's fine cause I just want you to be happy," she turned to face him with tears falling down her reddened cheeks.
"That's where you are wrong. I would love to get to know you, I know myself that the warden sees me as nothing more as a right hand but you have caught my eye when you take initiative to do hard work and your truly are a beautiful woman," he smiled and whipped away her tears, "That is if you would give me a chance, (F/N)?"
"You really are a fool, Kenshirou," she smiled, pulling on his tie to lock her lips with his.
