we love stories.
the fantasy worlds where good always wins.
we love to get away from the truth.
the truth being that in a world filled with sin
and pain and regret
our best bet
is to join in,
or drown to the soundtrack
of ourselves complaining.the fantasy world where justice is always served,
where the sanctity of the law is always preserved.
when the reality
is that brutality
is just another way to pass the time,
and that when you practice it
you hardly ever
serve time.where the hero always gets the girl
where love trumps hate
and we can always lean back
on destiny and fate.
but close the book and you'll see
that the hero has been pining
for years
and the girl has left him out at sea
because love isn't easy
and there's no such thing as fate
life is unpredictable
there's no such thing as a
relationship that's unsinkable
or love that's unconditional.we love stories.
where our morality is black and white
where there's a sharp line
between wrong and right
instead of what we have-
a blurry mess of grey
and too many people
unsure which way
they'll be turning
the next day.
