Grabbing her satchel from the banister with nerves of her first day in juniors erupting in her stomach with the fluttering of first day butterflies made her excited to start the year . She had made sure she looked pristine as she grabbed her coat and zipped it up checking her image in the full length mirror positioned in her hall way;before ironing out the creases and flattening down skirt with her hands ; where she had sat on the stairs previous and laced her shoes up. Having picked up her lunch she was ready to start the day ahead.
She was meeting her friends with no clue if she was in the same lessons as them but she was soon about to find out as she picked up her key and placed it in her blazer pocket.
She was careful not to scuff her new Russel and Bromley shoes as she walked down her stony drive and onto the path .Seeing the gates in sight that morning she knew she was about to face what she had spent weeks preparing for . But locating her friends not far off pushed her negative thoughts about the day ahead to the back of her mind and one of them, Alice, came running up to her nearly knocking her off her feet and engulfing her in warm hug . The other group joined her after Alice had let go of Connie .where she soon became involved in their chitchat about their holidays and what they did .
Walking into class she soon spotted familiar faces who smiled across at her from the other side of the class room. She'd seem them in and around school but had not fully gotten to know them or spoken to them; but she thought it was a nice gesture to smile and offered her some positivity to how this year was going to go . In Amongst the familiar faces were ones too that she didn't recognise before, like a boy who she would say was new to the school as he sat a few seats up from her and alone .
"Hello children I'm your teacher mrs Roberts for the year " she said as her eyes scanned the class room looking at the bright faces of the children
"ah , some of you I recognise , Hannah , Toby , I taught your brother didn't I Harry ? " the guy who she assumed to be Toby lifted his head and started blankly at her before raising his shoulders in a shrug. "Well lets see who else I have and I'll start the register , if you have spare seats next to you could you move up please so you are next to someone" she said looking into Connie's direction. Connie awkwardly moved in her seat kicking her bag under the table up a few places to be sat by the boy she didn't know. This was going to be good she thought to her self. Repositioning her and her stationary next to the boy he looked at her and smiled . She too returned the gesture and looked towards the front where Mrs Roberts held the piece of paper calling the names ."Jacob Masters" she called. The new boy who was sat next to Connie looked up. "Yes Miss." he mustered. "You know you don't have to be so shy we don't bite." Connie chipped in. He stared at her blankly. But with her incredible intellect for her age she could tell he was asking for her name. "Connie Chase lovely to meet you. I could give you a tour of the school later if you like?" "That would be nice." "Miss Constance Chase please keep the polite conversation for break times." "Yes miss."
It had got to first break and Connie had spotted Jacob looking very lost in the massive playground. She decided that he seemed like a nice boy and thought she ought to get to know him. So she ran up to him and lightly tapped him on the shoulder. "You look lost?" "Why you being nice to me?" "Your New and I'm a friendly person. Why don't I give you that tour." "Thank you Connie"
"And finally that is our classroom as you know." She said as she came to the last room on her tour for him. They both sniggered. A teacher then approached. "Miss Chase what are you and Mr Masters doing inside at break?" "I was just showing him round Miss as no one else had." She said in a very innocent tone. "Very well now outside for the rest of break." They both them scurried outside and joined Connie's friends.
It had got to the end of the school day and Connie and Jacob where chatting as they started there walk home. "Why don't you come to my house we could do are homework together and get to know each other better? If your parents don't mind?" "I would like that. And they won't mind. I could just tell them as I live down this road." "That's fine. I live on this road too. No.69." "I'm no.71. How coincidental."
