Chapter 2 : Sharing Secrets

“Josh, hey, wait up!”, called out Neal.

Josh stopped and waited in the school hallway for Neal to catch up. Neal and Josh started to walk to their classroom as he was told him about his new tattoo.

“Hey!”, said someone from behind them, Neal knew who it was. His pulse started to raise! He turned back and said “Rachel, how are you now? I was worried.”  

Rachel, was standing there along with her friend Alex, she then smiled at Neal and said, “I’m fine, thanks for helping me out. I was very scared. If it weren’t for you, I don’t know what would have happened.”. Neal smiled , “I’m just glad that you’re ok.”, he said. Then she told him that she wanted to thank him the previous day itself, but she told him that by the time she got conscious she was already at home. And that Alex took her to the hospital, and after getting the wound cleaned took her home. Neal told her that its ok, that he was just worried about how she was and nothing more. Rachel then waited for a moment and then she bashfully said, “ Neal….umm..Well, I was thinking..Maybe if you give me your cellphone number, the next time I’m in trouble I can directly call and ask you for help or something. . .? “

It was Neal’s first time talking to such a beautiful girl, his heart skipped a beat when she asked him for his number. Neal’s cheeks turned red as he blushed. He was speechless for a second, then he pulled himself together and said, “ Yeah….uh..i was kind of thinking the same too..”. He then asked for her number and sent her a text on Whatsapp. She smiled, and all four of them walked off to their classrooms.

It was History class, Neal and Rachel both were in the same class. Neal was listening to the lecture when Josh threw a rolled paper at him. Neal turned back and gestured ‘what??’. Josh pointed towards the paper, Neal then picked it up and opened it and saw a note written on it, saying “Neal, do you think Alex likes me? The hottest girl in the school likes me?”. Neal turned back again, he shrugged as he raised his eyebrows, trying to say that he had no clue who Alex liked and turned back front and continued listening to the lecture again. After a few minutes his phone buzzed. Ugh, not again Josh! He thought as he took his phone out of his pocket, it was a text message from Rachel, it was “ Hi..I just wanted to ask you... Why don’t we hang out sometime?”. He suddenly turned towards Rachel and saw that she was smiling at him.

Is this a freaking dream? Thought Neal, then again he knew it wasn’t. This is probably the best day of my life! Well, Human life at least..He typed in, “Sure! That’s great, why not we go somewhere today?” and then clicked the ‘send’ button. Now he felt stupid, what the heck did I just do?!, he thought, now she’ll think I’m an idiot! He was getting scared as his phone buzzed again, he quickly pressed the ‘read’ button and read, “Yeah, sure. Come to my place at 6 O’clock in the evening!”, she replied. Neal turned towards Rachel and smiled just to show her how happy he was.

Later, the school got over. Neal rushed home as soon as he can, got refreshed and wore his ‘date-night’ clothes and sat down on the couch in the living room waiting for it to be 6 O’clock. Carl was in the living room too, watching T.V. “I’m going out with Rachel”, said Neal to Carl. He was too involved in T.V, “ Yeah okay. Hey, Two And A Half Men was better when Charlie Sheen was there. This human life is awesome! Watching T.V all day! I like it over here” , he exclaimed. Neal laughed and said, “ Well, that makes two of us!”. It was almost time, so he headed out to pick up Rachel.

Neal went to Rachel’s place in his Porsche. He went and rang the doorbell and waited for Rachel to open the door. Moments later a man opened the door, he was around six feet tall. Fairly middle aged. Neal guessed that he was probably Rachel’s dad and wished him, “Hello, Mr.Sanders , nice to meet you.” As he offered for a handshake. Mr.Sanders smiled, shook hands with Neal and said , “Nice to meet you too young man.”. Then he called Rachel, saying that her date was there. Rachel then came out along with her mom. Her mom looked at Neal and said, “What a handsome young man.”, both Rachel and her mom giggled and then again she said, “Have a nice evening both of you.”, to Rachel and Neal. Then the two of them headed out.
