Chapter Three - Saturday Night
Holly stood over the bathroom sink trying to get a better view in the mirror while she applied the last of her mascara. She didn't need much since her lashes were already long. It was Saturday night, the day of the Ball. She wore her mothers old short black dress. It fit perfectly snug and stopped around her mid-thigh. The dress was long sleeve with a cut out diamond design that exposed her shoulders. In the back the dress had a long piece of shear fabric running from her waist to her ankles. Holly looked down at the dress and black pumps she was wearing. She wondered if the dress was a little too revealing for a Ball. Even if it was she had no other dress. The door bell rang scaring her. Holly hated Saturdays because no one was home with her. The workers took Saturdays off. Every single one of them from the maids to the security. She usually spent Saturdays with Jason either she would go over his house or he would come over hers. They would end up watching moves all night and falling asleep and she would usually try to sneak him out in the mornings with out her dad or any of the workers seeing. She always worried what If someone was in the house with her and she didn't know. It was a big house so it was possible. Holly finished applying her red lipstick and then made her way carefully down the stairs in her heels. The door bell rang again, this time more dramatically. The person on the other side must be really impatient.
"I'm coming, I'm coming." Holly yelled reaching the bottom of the stairs.
She slowly made her way to the door. Opening it Jason came into view. His usually messy blonde hair was neat and tamed. He wore a black three piece suit with a red bow tie.
"Wow, you look, wow."
"You already said wow." Holly said playfully."Is that for me?" She pointed to the single white rose that he held in his hand.
"Oh yeah," He said smirking and handing the Rose to her. "I didn't know what color to get. I was going to go with red, but the lady said that red was played out and white was the symbol of purity."
Holly smelled the rose and smiled."It's beautiful, thanks."
"You're beautiful." Holly felt her cheeks warm up and she was pretty sure she was blushing. "You ready?" He asked.
"Yeah sure,"
The drive to the Hall was about 30 minutes. During that time Holly and Jason gossiped about everything. Their conversation went from new couples at school, who made the basketball team, to who hooked up with who at Noel Collins big party last weekend.
"You should totally throw a party." Jason said as they turned into the parking lot.
"I don't think so," Holly said laughing. "My dad would kill me if I trashed his 'Million dollar baby'."
"Your house is so huge your dad wouldn't even notice if you have a party." He said jokingly as the diver opened the door. Jason got out in a not so graceful way and then helped Holly out. "Go ahead laugh it up." He said to Holly who was clutching her stomach and laughing uncontrollably.
"That was smooth." She said sarcastically after she calmed down a little.
"Whatever just don't expect me to catch you when you trip on something mysterious tonight." He said smirking with a wink
"I'll kill you." Holly said more seriously as they approached the entrance.
"Names?" A red headed girl asked at the door. She had on a red management uniform. And her ponytail was high on her head. She couldn't have been any older than Holly or Jason.
"Ralls and Fitzpatrick." Jason spoke up.
The girl checked the book in front of her and after writing something into it she smiled and told them they could go enter.? As always the Ball was packed with tons of people. Most of the guest were in their late teens and early twenties so the place basically looked like a night club. Holly let out a sign of relief when she noticed she wasn't the only one under dressed for this event. She had almost thought she stepped into a night club. The dance floor was already full of people dancing to the same steps to a beat. Jason's phone buzzed in his pocket. He took it out and glanced at the screen.
