Steve's POV

Bucky and I sat in silence as Sam paced. We had told him what we had seen and heard and I still couldn't believe it. My little sister, my sweet little Sarah, was alive.

And she was working with my greatest enemy to destroy me.

I kept mulling over her words. "I'll kill Captain America for what he did to my brother. I'll kill him if it's the last thing I do!"

Why would she think I did something to myself worthy of killing me? Unless... she didn't know that I was Captain America. But how could she not? It was impossible right? I mean I never did tell her about the experiments or that I was Captain America in my letters. But she had to have found out eventually. There were the movies, the shows, the comic books, the news stories, not to mention Howard and Tony.

"We have to help her," I said finally.

"Man, she wants to kill you!" Sam yelled in surprise.

"She's my sister. I know her," I argued.

"She doesn't know you," Bucky practically whispered, his voice pained, "She doesn't know us."

"She will. I didn't give up on you. I am not going to give up on her," I sighed, voice cracking slightly.

I needed to find out what happened. So I did the only logical thing I could think of, I called Natasha.

"You have no idea how many favors I had to pull to get this Steve," Natasha Romanoff frowned.

"Thank you Nat," I smiled, "I owe you."

"It's a long list Steve," she chuckled before walking back to her car.

I flipped open the file Natasha gave me and found a picture of Sarah at 10 standing next to Peggy when she was much older. Below it was a picture of Sarah with Howard, his wife, and Tony. The third picture was of Sarah in a capsule, frozen like Bucky was. I guess that was how she stayed so young. Reading some of the text in the file confirmed that. I kept reading to find that Sarah was kidnapped by Hydra not long after I joined the war effort. She was injected with the Super-Soldier serum Zola created and then frozen after my plane went down. A note by Howard said that because she was injected at such a young age the serum had a easier time attaching to her cells and altering them.

I had to show this to Bucky.

~~~Time Skip~~~
"So... she's stronger than us?" Bucky mused, reading the file.
"Pretty much," I told him.
"This is bad, man. Very bad," Sam said, tense.
"Why?" Bucky asked, confused.
"She's Hydra, man!" Sam yelled.
"No she's not! She's my sister, and I am going to get her back!" I yelled, tears pricking my eyes.
"I'm sorry, man," Sam reached out to pat my shoulder but I pulled away.
"I just need some rest," I sighed, heading to my room.
I changed into some more comfortable clothes and slid into bed. As I closed my eyes, all I could think about was Sarah. I drifted into unconsciousness and my head was filled with a memory.
"Stevey! Watch this!" Sarah laughed happily as I turned to look at Sarah.
Sarah, Bucky, and I were at Central Park having a picnic. Sarah was 7 and lively as ever. She liked to hang off of Bucky's arms like a monkey. Because we were so poor, she just wore my old hand-me-downs. Many people looked at her with distaste but she didn't care.
I looked at her as she hung by her knees from the branch of a tall tree. My heart stopped as her knees slipped and she fell, screaming. Bucky and I ran to her.
"Sarah? Sarah!" I yelled in panic, ignoring the burning in my lungs.
"Steve? I couldn't see you. I thought you'd left me," she cried as Bucky cradled her in his arms.
"I'll never leave you Sarah. Never," I told her, stroking her hair as I wiped a small cut on her forehead with my handkerchief.
"Cross your heart?" she sniffed, wiping her eyes.
"Cross my heart," I smiled, making a little 'x' over my heart before kissing her forehead.
I woke with a start.
You broke your promise. You broke your promise.
Those four words echoed in my brain, taunting me. Wiping my face in my hands, I grabbed my gym back and left to pulverize the living daylights out of a punching bag.
Bucky's POV
She doesn't know you.
Those words burned my skull as I watched Steve go to his room. I could feel the wetness behind my eyes as I practically marched to my room. As I soon as the door was closed and locked, I slid down the wood to the floor.
I suddenly felt like a child. Drawing my knees up, I sobbed. I let all the pain and hurt I had felt since I had begun to remember everything, out. My walls fell away as every bit of my Winter Soldier somber demeanor melted.
Emotionally exhausted, I drifted into sleep. Slowly, a memory permeated my peaceful rest.
5 year old Sarah sat at my feet, weaving dandelions into a crown. She wore the only dress she owned. I had bought it when her mother died. It was bright yellow and she had on black buckle shoes that Steve had saved for ages to get. Her blonde hair was curled and she had a bright yellow bow in her hair.
"Jamie? If Stevey goes away like mommy and daddy, will you take care of me?" she asked suddenly.
"Sarah! Why would you think Steve was going to go away?" I asked, shocked.
"I heard the doctor. He came to our house yesterday and said that Stevey is really sick. Mommy was sick too, before she went away. So Stevey is going to go away too," she mused, weaving in another yellow flower, oddly calm at the idea.
"Sarah, doll, Steve isn't going to go away. Not as long as I'm around. But I'll always be there for you Sarah," I told her, pulling her into my lap and kissing her forehead.
"Cross Your Heart?" she questioned.
"Cross My Heart," I smiled as she placed her dandelion crown on my head.
I awoke, tears streaming down my face.
I broke my promise. I broke my promise.
"I'm so sorry Sarah. So so sorry," I sobbed into the empty room.
(Hey! So the feels were alot here. I started crying myself. Uh so I seriously can't believe I've gotten this far for this book. The song this chapter was inspired by was the cover of Alan Walker's Faded by Madilyn Bailey. I put the video at the beginning of the chapter. Also I've been wanting to do a trailer for this book. If anyone knows how to do those or knows someone who can, message me on this book at my home page or leave a comment. Don't forget to like/vote, comment, and subscribe to my channel for updates and all that fun stuff. This Tigger is bouncing out. :)
