Epilogue

The sound of a mobile phone ringing echoed throughout the noisy café; Mahoko snapped out of her daydream, reminiscing on her past life with her deceased husband and children. She looked up to see Tanazaki pick up his mobile and answered it "Yes, this is Tanizaki" Mahoko raised an eyebrow at him "Yes, okay" he continued to speak to the person on the phone "Got it" he finished, both Mahoko and Kunikida looked at each other before averting their gaze to the ginger haired boy "We have a job?" Kunikida questioned, 

"Yes, the client's already at the Agency" he responded, Dazai then stood up from his seat,

"Well, it's time to work" as everyone stood up in unison "Let's save the guessing game for another time-" Dazai was about to finished until two young children came running into the café "Mummy!" Mahoko turned around to see a young boy and girl run up to her to embrace her, she looked at the clock "It's that time already, I didn't realised you finished kindergarten already" she exclaimed as she hugged her children "Mummy?!" Mahoko looked up to see Atsushi's shocked face, she giggled at his expression and stood up as she patted her children's head "These are my twins" she then looked at them and urged them forwards "Introduce yourselves" she said with a soft smile. The boy looked around four years old, he had shaggy red hair and his mother's pink eyes; he was dressed in a yellow gilet with a white short sleeved t-shirt underneath along with brown shorts and black trainers "My name is Yoshimoto Sakunosuke" he bowed and continued "It's nice to meet you Atsushi-san" Atsushi was taken back by how polite the boy was "It's a pleasure to meet you too", then a girl with long brown hair, just like her mother's, with bright blue eyes came up to Atsushi, her straight hair fell just below her bottom, as it was swaying from side to side. She was dressed in a pastel pink sailor cardigan, with a baby blue short sleeved t-shirt underneath it, along with a white flowy skirt that ended just above her knees; paired with white frilly socks with brown, flat Mary Jane shoes. the cheery girl looked up at Atsushi with a big smile "I'm Yoshimoto Minako, it's nice to meet you!" she bowed, 

"Nice to meet you" Atsushi replied, the young girl then ran over to Kunikida "Kunikida-san! I made you something today at school!" she said with excitement, the blonde haired man crouched down and raised an eyebrow "Oh really what is it?", she pulled out the object from her rucksack "It's a bookmark! you are always writing in that notebook, so I thought I'd make you this so you never ever lose your page again" she handed him the multi-coloured bookmark with different coloured pen drawings of flowers and he took it "Thank you, now I will never lose where I am up to" he said gratefully while patting her head, she bowed, 

"You're welcome!" 

"They're very well mannered" he spoke as he glanced at Mahoko 

"Well I did try my best to raise them to be polite by myself" Atsushi gave her a questionable look "By yourself? Where's their father?" he asked, however he regretted asking the question as he seen the look of sadness on her face, Kunikida and Dazai looked at her sympathy along with the Tanizaki siblings. She looked at him, as her children gripped on to the sides of her body "He died before the children were born" she said with sadness in her voice, Atsushi looked panicked and didn't know what to say "I-I-I'm s-s-sorry! I didn't mean to-" Mahoko smiled and walked up to him and placing a hand on his shoulder "It's fine, no need to worry about it. Relax, you can come to me whenever you want to ask something okay?" Atsushi blushed

 "O-Okay" she then turned and walked over to Kunikida and Dazai,

 "I'm taking the children home but I will be back at the agency in the afternoon" Kunikida smiled and nodded "Okay well I will see you later" he then got the Tanizaki siblings and Atsushi and cleared out the Agency "Uncle Dazai, we're going to see daddy today" Minako spoke up and ran up to Dazai, Dazai picked her up "Are you now?" Dazai smiled as he looked at Mahoko while she had a soft expression on her face, Sakunosuke ran up to Dazai "Are you coming with us uncle Dazai?" he questioned, Dazai put down Minako as he crouched down and placed his hand on Sakunosuke's head, ruffling his hair "I can't come today, I've got work to do" the children seemed upset and begged him to come with them "Please!" the both begged while giving him the puppy dog eyes, Mahoko and Dazai laughed "Minako, Saku, Dazai has to work, he can't come today but maybe he can come next time" she looked up and her eyes met Dazai, he smiled "Of course, I will make the time and we can all go together" the children looked at each other and cheered, sat down at the table and waited for their mum "Mummy, we're waiting here for you" Minako shouted over as they conversed with each other, while Mahoko was laughing at the twins Dazai smiled "They're so grown up already" he stated, Mahoko smiled and looked at him "They're growing up so fast" she continued "I better Saku-kun is just as shocked as we are" she smiled softly while fiddling with the wedding band on her necklace. Dazai smiled "He would be so proud at how well you've raised them" he then kissed the top of her head and rubbed her back "The kids are waiting, you should get going before it gets dark" Dazai spoke with concern, Mahoko giggled "Always worrying aren't you?" Dazai smiled
