The Good King Sene sat in his Throne room, picking food out of his teeth. He was sprawled across the Throne, wearing a jacket sewn from gold and silver threads, his beard tossed across his shoulder.
The speech had not gone the way he had planned, though he knew most Fairies did not approve of closing the Doors. Fairies loved interworld travel.
He looked out over his Throne room. The walls were painted with sheets of gold, and shone in the candlelight. They were adorned with all sorts of portraits, mostly of King Sene, and dozens of statues were placed around the room. The room oozed superfluous wealth and vanity.
As he tossed the silver toothpick away, a man walked in. He bowed low, and at a curt nod from the King, walked further into the room.
The squire was dressed in a long black robe, simple and plain, for the King liked to be the center of attention. His lilac skin sparkled like diamonds, and he had cut slits in the robe for his magnificent butterfly wings. The man stood in the center of the room in front of King Sene.
The King regarded him coolly. “Yes?”
“Your Highness, we just found reports of another human. A girl, about fifteen years. It seems there was some… Celestial interference.”
Sene froze on his Throne. “Celestial?”
“Yes, a certain… Spirit.”
“Find her,” the King said, his voice thick. “Find that girl and bring her to me.”
