Forgotten

chapter 12

I could feel my breath catch in my throat. Standing in front of me was a flesh eater. I took a few steps back. I watched at the best in human form take a few forward.

“It’s okay Serena, I won’t hurt you,” Alex said gently.

“Is that what you said to that innocent woman you killed?” I asked angrily as images of her body came to the surface.

“I never killed her, is that what that wolf told you?” Alex said his voice harsh.

“Yes. And his name is Damon not wolf,” I said back just as harshly.

“Maybe you should hear both sides of the story before you judge so harshly,’’ Alex said back, his tone more gentle.

“Why should I listen to you?” I ask him.

“You listen to that Wolf, I mean Damon don’t you. Why don’t you give me a chance to explain my story,” he says softly taking a few cautious steps closer to me.

I hated to admit it but he did kind of have a point. Of course he could just be saying that to trick me into trusting him. And then he would try to eat me.

Before I could take a few steps back I felt my feet leave the ground. Next thing I know I’m in Alex’s arms.

“Put me down this instant,” I screamed in what I hoped was a frightening voice.

Instead all I got was a laugh. He was smiling down at me. I stared at his teeth, expecting to see fangs. Instead they were normal looking.

“As soon as we get home, I’ll put you down,” he says smiling from ear to ear.

“I’m sorry but did you just say we?” I asked confused.

“Did you actually think I would take you home to that wolf?” he asks in an amused tone.

“I’m not going anywhere with you,” I said through clenched teeth.

After about five minutes of attempting to break out of his arms I finally gave up. Why was everyone here so much stronger than me? If only I had something to hit him with. Maybe if I could grab a branch or a rock.

Instead I asked him, “Why are going to all this trouble of kidnapping a sixteen year old girl?”

“You’re not just any sixteen year old girl Serena. I can’t believe you even have to ask,” he says softly.

“What do you mean by that?” I ask him puzzled.

“Do you remember that day when you rescued a boy from drowning?” he asks me softly.

“Yes I was eight and swimming in the community pool and no one else was there besides this other family. The little boy fell into the pool and when he didn’t come up I went and pulled him up. How did you know that?” I asked him.

“That little boy was me. I hate to admit it but I was small for my age. Ever since that day, I swore to myself that I would make you my wife,” he says softly staring at me in admiration.

After a few more minutes of walking, me in a stunned and embarrassed silence, we come to a dirt road. Then a group of houses appeared.

“It’s about time you came back Alex,” called a voice.

I just wanted to say how sorry I am for not updating for a long time. School and work are taking up most of my time. Hope you enjoy and tell me what you think. -Aria
