Valerie's P.O.V.

I don't know how long we stayed like that. Him holding me as close as possible with his face pressed into my neck, with an occasional kiss. Why wasn't I trying to get away from him? Any sane woman in my position would have hit, clawed, bite, or really anything to try and escape this creature.

But he hasn't harmed me.

It's not a rational reason, given all the dead bodies littering the meadow. But, why wasn't mine joining them? Why didn't he kill me? I voiced that last question, shocked that he heard me.

He lifted his head and gazed in my eyes again. I shivered at the intensity his stare held.

"You..." He cleared his throat. "Belong.." He swallowed a few times before speaking again. "To me."

My eyes widened. What does he mean by that? I don't belong to anyone, especially not right now. I put my hands on his chest and tried to push myself away from him, shaking my head.

"No, no I don't." His eyes narrowed, making me struggle even harder. His tail then coiled from under my butt, to around my back. Keeping us close as his hands cupped my face. I couldn't control my breathing, he's going to kill me. I'm going to die.

He placed his forehead on mine, keeping eye contact. "Shhhh." His deep voice was almost, soothing. Looking into his eyes, there was calmness.

My breathing began to slow, going back to normal. But my heart... my heart isn't slowing down. I wasn't struggling anymore. Why did I stop? When did I stop? Before I could try again, I felt him tense.

His hands slid down from my cheeks, to my waist. He straightened to his full height, looking around the area. His tail uncoiled from around me, going back behind him. Then, his wings started to stretch themselves out. They were just as big up close, and just as intimidating.

He bent down and gripped my thighs, lifting me up. My legs wrapped around his waist as my arms instinctively went around his neck.

"Tighter." It took me a minute to understand he wanted me to hold on to him better. His arms tightened themselves around me.

Hopefully he will only walk or run somewhere. But I knew that wasn't going to be the case.

I heard a small sound coming from the meadow, when Blue abruptly flapped his wings. Once, twice. The third time was when we actually started to lift. By the fourth, we were in the air.

Letting out a girlish squeak, I clung to him as tightly as possible. Burying my face in his neck as we got higher off the ground. I dont like heights yet I'm letting this thing take me higher and higher. I love my logic in this situation.

I felt his growl rumble through his chest as I continued to try and hide myself from the height. But, something might be down there. It would explain why he started to fly.

Turning my head, I opened one eye and peaked down. We were higher up than I thought... I gulped and looked closer.

There were a few men on the ground. All looking up at us.

And all holding guns.

My body began to tremble. They won't shoot will they? Oh god. If they shot Blue and he went down, I would die from the fall. If they missed Blue then there's the chance that I would be the one who gets hit. Either way, I would die. My breathing quickened as thoughts of falling and bullets piercing my body ran through my mind.

I felt Blue's hand in my hair, his fingers tangling themselves in the strands. Slowly he massaged my scalp, trying to calm me down I suppose. I buried my face back into his neck, not wanting to see the guns pointed up at us anymore. I tried to get my breathing under control. It wouldn't be a good to have a panic attack while airborne.

Blue growled. "Let the girl go!" I flinched when I heard a man yell that, not expecting them to say anything. Blue growled again, louder.

"Let her go, you monster!" Another man's voice yelled. I furrowed my brows in confusion. Blue tensed at the word 'monster'.

Then, I felt us move. Cold air blew against me as Blue flew away from the men, my back facing the ground. I don't know how fast he was flying and I didn't dare look. I heard the men yelling for Blue to stop from a short distance away. My arms and legs started to ache from how tightly I was holding on. I didn't dare loosen my grip even though his arms were securely wrapped around me.

I didn't know how long we were flying for. The yelling had stopped a while ago. Small whimpers escaped my lips as the pain increased in my arms and legs. I was slowly loosening my grip on his due to the pain. I felt him kiss my hair before we started to descend, at least that's what it felt like.

Suddenly we were jerked upward with a loud thump afterwards. My body was finally upright, rather than being on my back. In the air. Lifting my head from Blue's neck I saw we were in a forest. In a tree. Blinking a few times to get rid of the blurriness, I tried to see if anything would be familiar. Then again, we flew too long for us to be anywhere near the areas I wandered to.

I loosened my grip and slid down until my feet were touching a solid surface. It was only when I started to loose my balance that I realised we were in a tree. A fricken tree! I practically threw myself back into Blue's arms, not daring to look down.

I continued to cling to him as he lowered us down into sitting positions.

Securely wrapping his tail around my waist, he slowly turned me around so my back was against his chest. After prying my arms from around his neck, of course. His arms were wrapped around my waist as his tale coiled itself around my legs and the branch we were on.

Finally I spoke. "Blue? What are you doing? What just happened?" He pulled me tighter against him. His wings wrapping themselves around the both of us, cutting off the moonlight.

The warmth of his body and the cover his wings provided slowly coaxed my eyes to close. I was both physically and mentally exhausted from all the events that had happened in one night. I vaguely felt his head rest itself on mine as my mind and body begun to shut down.

"Safe." His husky voice whispered as my eyes finally closed.
