Lillian could barely contain her excitement as they made their way downstairs. She followed Ameria back into the dining room, where everyone else seemed to have gathered. That was when she remembered her earlier display - slamming into the staircase, threatening Ameria, marching upstairs on a rampage. Lillian hesitated at the foot of the staircase, wondering about the others' reactions to her reappearance. Finally, she gathered her courage and followed Ameria back into the dining room as if nothing was wrong. She thought that she was prepared for the flying utensils, but she was just as shocked as before as her brain tried to reject the images her eye cells sent. Lillian ducked a flying plate and sat in an unoccupied chair, avoiding everyone else's gazes. Ameria sat down grandly at the head of the table as if she was some sort of wicked villain lording over her minions
Lillian looked around with her head down. The dining room was just as busy as before, with the air above the table being a whirlwind of activity as the silverware bustled around like people at a crowded market. A fancy thick gray silver tablecloth had been draped over the table and sparkling clean plates and eating utensils was set at their appropriate places. Food was cooking themselves at the kitchen next door and a slim vacuum cleaner raced around the floor closely followed by a mop, almost as if they were racing to see who would be able to clean up the fastest.
Before Lillian and Ameria entered, Jennena and Cheyenne were talking; Jennena in an urgent yet authoritative tone while Cheyenne spoke in an almost grandiose fashion. Christopher stared at the excitement happening in the kitchen with a mild interest on his face, but not much else. As Lillian and Ameria took their seats, the rest of the group's heads snapped up. Jennena expression was uncomfortably like some of the teachers at Lillian's school like she already knew all of her secrets. Cheyenne looked like she couldn't care less. Christopher's was expressionless, but his eyes were calculating, like he hadn't figured everything out yet, but was nearly there.
Ameria swept in, ignoring the three enchanters' speculating looks. She sat down on her chair, looking self-satisfied, the opposite of Lillian.
Jennena turned her head toward Ameria, "I suppose you told her everything," she said. It wasn't a question, but a statement.
"Yeah." Suddenly, Cheyenne looked interested in the conversation.
Jennena nodded. "Just making sure. Now, if you would excuse me, I need to make a phone call to the BISI." She took out her phone and walked away to call.
Lillian looked at Ameria. "What's the BISI?" she asked.
But it was Christopher who answered, "The Bureau of Inter-Sect Interaction."
"It's in charge of the the enchanters' contact with other sects... or humans like you," Ameria continued.
Fear bubbled up in Lillian. "Wait," she said, "am I going to get tangled up in some crazy mess with the government?" Her voice was panicky. It wasn't as if she, a random high schooler, would be noticed in anyway by any governments. She had been so excited to discover this new world of magic, but she hadn't thought about the consequences. If she had slowed down to think about it, they had obviously taken great means to keep themselves hidden, who was she to think that they wouldn't care if a human girl happened to discover her secret. Suddenly, she wasn't feeling so high and mighty about herself.
Ameria rolled her eyes. "It's not like they actually care, they're just gonna record it down somewhere, shove the file into their dusty archives and forget all about it."
Christopher looked up. "Really? Oh, it should be fine then." The last part was directed toward Lillian, though he looked slightly miffed by the derogatory tone that Ameria used about the enchanters.
