We arrived at the restaurant and Austin jogged over to my door. He knocked on the window. "Well, are you coming?" He asked. Well, I thought he was going to open my door, it looked like he was. I opened the door ashamed that I thought he was nice. We walked into the restaurant and it wasn't crowded but it wasn't empty. The waitress walked up to us and asked us what we wanted to drink. "Bud Light" Austin said. I glared at him for drinking because he has to drive back. "Water please" I said. "Water huh? Someone's healthy." He laughed. I just rolled my eyes. "So. What's your favorite thing to do on your free time?" He asked. "Read. I love to read" I said. "What about you?" I asked him. "I like to get drunk or hang out with hot girls." He said like it was a thing everybody does. "Oh.." I looked down at the ice cubes melting in my water. The ice represents my heart when Austin smiles. I didn't realize how long I was staring at the ice cubes until the waitress came and brought our food. Austin didn't seem interested in me. Maybe he thought I was a different person. Maybe he thought I was the type of girl that liked to get drunk, do drugs, and have sex every weekend. I'm not really hungry so I just took a few bites of my food. "Is something bothering you?" Austin asked when he barely noticed I wasn't eating and just staring out the small window by our booth. "yeah." I said. "No there's something wrong with you. Tell me. Now." He demanded. "Well, I really like you Austin but, I don't think, me and you are going to work out." I told him, kind of glad I told him that. "Wait, you thought this was a date? No I just wanted to hang out with you. I'd never go on a date with you." He told me, very rudely. I got up without saying a word, left a tip on the table and walked outside. I don't know how I'm getting back to the dorm but I don't care right now. Austin was close behind me. I started running. The rocks were crumbling under me and glass beer bottles were breaking under my feet, probably ruining my new boots but I don't care. I just want to be away from Austin, as far away as possible. I stopped on the corner of the street where the bus stop was hoping the next bus comes soon. After a few seconds, Austin catches up. "Brianna, I did not mean to make you mad I was just telling you that this wasn't a date it was just something for me to be your friend." He told me. "Well you're way too late for that. Bye Austin." I said walking towards the bus that is pulling up. "No you are NOT taking the bus. Come back with me." He demanded. "No, I'm not your slave." I put my hands on my hips. The bus driver honked and I started walking again. Austin picked me up by my waist and carried me over his shoulder and started walking towards the direction of the restaurant. "PUT ME DOWN AUSTIN" I punched his back repeatedly and it didn't seem to bother him. We eventually got to the parking lot of the restaurant and he opened the passenger door and set me down. I just sat there staring out the window while he got in the drivers seat. "Brianna." I didn't look at him. "Look at me please. For 10 seconds just please look at me I have to explain this." I eventually looked up at him with my bloodshot eyes and mascara stained face. "Ok, I didn't want to ask you out on a date because I knew you'd say no. Every girl I have asked out has said no and I think it's because of the way I act or look. I don't even know. I just didn't want to ask you out because I thought you'd do the same thing. I was too chicken to ask out a gorgeous girl like you." He looked into my eyes and I could tell he was about to cry. I reached over and hugged him. That's when my tears started to fall even more. "Austin I wouldn't have said no because you are really cute and I would want to date you. I don't care how you look." I buried my face into his shoulder and just cried. I'm not sure if my tears are of suprisement, happiness or excitement but I just cry. I even felt a few tears hit the back of my shirt. I pulled out of the hug and looked at Austin. "So do you want to date?" He asked me. "Well I don't really know you all that well but I don't care right now. Yes I will date you." I said. He hugged me again, but this time it was short. Before he let go of the hug, he kissed my cheek. "I think you should get to bed, it's your first day of college tomorrow. Big day." He patted my thigh. He started up his car and pulled out of the parking lot. I dozed off, and before I knew it, we were in front of the building. I opened the car door and waved goodbye to Austin, after giving him my number. I headed to the dorm. Oh Natalie is going to love hearing about what just happened tonight. I can't wait to tell her. I wonder what she'll say?
