Wasted Time

I sat in the coffee shop as usual drinking my coffee and reminiscing about my previous relationship.
We were really in love. At least from my part.
A relationship I thought would lead to marriage.

A couple came in, you could clearly see it in their faces that they were in love.
They sat down. Drinking their coffee in between smiles.
I have been seeing them almost everyday here and watched them.

And I saw what Peter and I didn't have. Friendship.

Work kept him really far because I remember when we newly started going out together.
We were what you would call best friends.
His friends my friends, my friends his friends.
But he became really busy and always tired when he was around. Or working from home instead of spending time with me.
We were now lovers and not friends.
He was always on one trip or a meeting or something.
There was barely time for us to talk about our days, work or anything.
The times we were able to meet up came the pulling off our clothes which was on real quick and he leaves real quick like he came to do me a favor.

I understood the fact that he was working for our future so I wasn't complaining but it doesn't dispute the fact that I miss him.

One day I decided to take lunch to him. Even though he has repeatedly warned me not to come to his office.
But I wanted to see him. After all I haven't seen him for a week now.
Moreover I bringing lunch to him.
After the way to a man's heart, is his stomach.
I walked into the floor leading to his office.
I noticed that his PA was not on sit.
She was really a bubbly lady.
Always smiling. I'd try to say hi after seeing Peter.
I opened the door to his office without knocking and what I saw broke my heart.

My Peter was on one knee proposing to his PA!
