Caitlyn and I were up way to early for a Monday morning, but we had a meeting in the indoor arena to discuss what day each grade of riders would be testing for the teams.

We didn't dress in our regular riding clothes, since we would be going to class right after the meeting. Instead I picked out black and white aztec design leggings with dark wash ripped shorts overtop, a white tank top under a black open lace cardigan, a black skinny headband and finally black flats to pull it all together.

Caitlyn had chosen a black skater mini skirt with a white Monki Ellie Singlet tank that had 'Oh...Snap' written on it. She had curled her hair and layered on her eyeliner and mascara, finally slipping into black vans to tie it all together. We had painted each others nails the night before, both going with black, but Caitlyn had made me add a gold strip on hers. She hadn't made any more comments about Gracie and Cobalt being rescued as we talked about our wildest experience with our horses. Instead she bugged me about Mason.

" Do you think we'll see him? "

I had rolled my eyes. " Probably, it is a meeting for all the riders... "

She giggled. " We should try to sit next to him, hopefully his snooty sister isn't around... "

I had to agree with her on that one. Missy didn't seem like the friendliest of girls, plus she had called me and Caitlyn competition right off the bat.

We grabbed our bags, her's being a Backyard Picnic Floral Backpack In Mint and mine being an Americana Backpack.

We took the elevator down to the main floor instead of the stairs, wanting to make sure we weren't late to our first rider meeting at Canterwood.

The sun was barely up in the sky and already students swarmed to the barn. Caitlyn and I followed a group of who we assumed were seniors, since they seemed to know exactly where they were going while still looking down at their phones.

Once we reached the indoor arena, the grades were split off into sections by two men who were most likely the stable grooms.

The freshmen were seated in the middle, followed by the sophomores beside them and on the ends were the juniors and seniors.

I spotted Missy, her shimmering blond hair pulled into a professional looking bun. She was sitting in between three other girls, two with brown hair and one with raven black hair. I spotted Mason sitting a few chairs away from her, looking as if he had just rolled out of bed, his hair sticking up in various places.

How does that make him look so much cuter?

Apparently Caitlyn noticed me staring, grabbing my arm and bringing me over to him.

He smiled when he saw us. " Hey! I was hoping to see you two again "

I felt my face heat up and quickly took a seat so hopefully he wouldn't notice. But I knew Caitlyn noticed by the way she kept smiling at me.

" So... " Of course it would be Caitlyn to start the conversation, but it was better her than me. " What team are you hoping to get on? "

I turned to him, interested in knowing myself.

He shrugged. " I'm shooting for intermediate...but advanced would be better, at least according to my sister... "

I quickly glanced at Missy, who was picking at her french manicured nails impatiently while the other three girls chatted at her almost mindlessly. She was definitely the leader of the group.

" It's the same with us! " Caitlyn chirped. " Getting onto the advanced team would be the best thing to ever happen! But I know I'd be just as happy with intermediate "
