   ‣ chapter one ‣

"Welcome to the University of Olso."

My eyes automatically trail upwards to the direction of the voice and I'm greeted by a tall female. She's dressed in a white button-up along with a pair of work trousers and black heels that seemingly suit her opulent attire. Her hair is platinum blonde and her eyes a radiant blue.

A robotic smile adjusts her features.

"Hello," I force a smile "Can I have the map, please?"

She walks over to the desk and takes a small booklet from the bottom drawer, handing it over to me.

"Thank you," I reply before I flip over pages until I find the building map.

I then walk through the entrance doors and begin to find my way around.

From stalking the brochures and website images online, West Bridge Academy is exactly what I expect. It's very roomy. After all, the college does have four large buildings with four individual centres.

The first place I make my way to is my dorm room. I lead myself up the stairs, passing a cluster of students scattering the hallway where many of the rooms are located.

I smile back at whoever catches my gaze. The last thing I want is to have my resting-bitch-face on full display to people I've never met.

When I find my room, I slide the key into the hole. The door creaks open and I notice the room is empty. There are two beds along with two closets and another door which I'm guessing is the bathroom.

Great, I'm on my own.

I take out my phone from my back pocket and dial Noora's cell, placing the phone beside my ear. The line rings for a couple of moments until she answers.

"Hey, did your dumbass get lost? Where are you?"

There are noises of what sounds like objects shuffling around from the other line. "I'm sorry! I'm running late! Eskild is taking forever!"

"Ah, OK. Well, hurry up. I'm so lonely here."

"Do not worry, Noora will be there in approximately twenty minutes!" She exclaims "I'll call you as soon as I get there! I love you!"

Then the line cuts.

I let out a sigh and shove my phone back into my pocket. I plop down on the bed I choose to sleep on and allow all the thoughts I pushed away to invade my mind.

I think it's safe to say I'm officially a college student. Who would think? I, Eva Mohn got into one of the best colleges in the city. My mother certainly couldn't believe it when the acceptance letter came through the post.

I sure hope college is better than high school. I can't deal with another year of drama and bitches and fake relationships. It's too much stress to bare.

Jonas has moved on and so should I. He's at a different college to mine, the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences. I'm exceptionally happy for him since it's always been a dream of his to attend there.

The other girls, except for Sana, have gone on to create careers for themselves. Sana starts tomorrow morning. I can't wait to meet her. It feels like I haven't seen her in months which in reality was only like two weeks ago.

There's a knock on my door which interrupts my thoughts.

I stand up quickly and twist the doorknob, opening the door to see an unfamiliar male and female who grin back at me eagerly.

I can't help but raise an eyebrow at them. "Can I help you?"

"Eva, is it?" The male asks. His tone is friendly and welcoming.

"Yes, that's me," I answer.

The blonde girl hands me a leaflet. "You're a first year. There's a party on tonight. You've got to come!"

I skim my eyes absentmindedly over the flier. "Erm...I'll see if I can."

"Cool," The guy responds "We're just making the first years meet and get to know one another. It's kind of a tradition here."

I nod and flash the nicest smile I can muster. Then I close the door. Shit, was that rude of me? Oh well.

Instead, I throw the flier into the bin and lay back on my bed. I stare purposelessly at the ceiling. I spend a couple of minutes just gazing at the plain beige colour.

Oh for Christ sake.

There's no way I'll be able to sit in this silence waiting until Noora arrives. The boredom will eat me alive.

So, I leave my dorm room and step out into the hallway. There are a few red cups on the floor. Wow, people are already getting drunk. Perhaps I should too.

There's nobody in the hall from what I can see. I'm guessing everybody is at that party. I shove my hands down the pockets of my hoodie as I wander down the hallway.

Suddenly, a faint muscular presence to my right catches my gaze. My head snaps towards the direction but there's nobody there.

That's strange. I swear I saw somebody.

With a slight shake of my head, I continue to walk down.

It's so quiet. The silence is somewhat eerie.

I check my phone again but I don't see a single notification from Noora on my home screen.

For fuck sake. That girl really does take her time.

I might as well just head to the damn party.

As I turn on my heel to make my way back to my dorm room for the leaflet, I bump into something.

Or rather...someone.

His strong scent is the first thing I am greeted with.

Oh, fuck me.

I open my eyes timidly, hoping desperately that it's not him and someone who just wears the same cologne.

But no, it's not.

It's indeed him.

To my surprise, his arms come down to my waist and he squeezes them. The act catches me off guard as I squeal just in time for him to back me up against the wall. He traps me with his arms at each side of my body.

My breaths become slower and heavier.

No. This can't happen. He can't be here.

He lets out a wicked chuckle and grazes his tongue across his metal lip ring. My chest heaves up and down as I observe him properly.

The same dark hair that I still would kill to run my fingers through. His familiar deep hazel eyes which can simply hypnotise any female species. Strong jawline, prominent cheekbones, undeniably attractive face.

The fresh scar running down his cheek even looks sexy.

"Miss me?" He asks with a smug smile displaying his features.

It's really him. I thought I'd never see him again after what happened but I'm proven wrong.

It's Christoffer Schistad.
