Jacky's pov
"Have you seen the picture April posted on instagram?" I ask Mike, who's making us coffee while I'm sitting at the kitchen table checking instagram.
"Nope," he says, taking a seat in front of me. "What is it?"
I sigh. "Apparently she and Jamie got together this summer."
"Oh no, not your crush Jamie."
"He's not my crush," I tell him, rolling my eyes. "It's just.. I don't understand what he sees in her."
"You're crushing."
"Shut up. I need coffee."
He hands me the cup and I take a big sip. "Thanks."
"I still can't believe anyone wants to date that bitch," Mike confesses.
"Me neither. A lot can happen during summer break, I guess."
He nods and gets up.
"I have to be at school in ten minutes."
"What subject do you have first?" I ask him as he's putting on his jacket.
"Biology."
"Biology's fun."
He laughs.
"That still needs to be proven. I've heard the new teacher is fucking weird."
I put my phone away and smile.
"Have you ever met a normal biology teacher?"
"Not really," he admits.
"But I'll see, bye."
I wave at him and he walks out of the door, leaving me alone at the kitchen table. I get my phone again and take another look at Aprils picture. She's kissing Jamie, who's widely smiling, on the cheek. The stupid caption says: so happy to be together with this cutie. Gotta love him.
Fucking bitch.Mike's pov
I open the classroom door and look around. Most people are already seated and talking while the teacher's writing something on the board. My eyes scan the room, searching for an empty seat, which I find next to a blond guy. He's on his phone, not caring about wether the teacher sees it or not. I walk toward him and he looks up.
"Mind if I sit here?"
He gestures to the seat next to him.
"All yours," he says, before concentrating on his phone again. I get my bag and take out my new biology books as the teacher clears his throat.
"Hello class, I'm mister Quinn, but just call me Kylo."
He smiles, exposing his bright teeth and clears his throat.
"Well, this is the first lesson of the year and- Daniel, you mind putting that away?"
He looks at the boy next to me, who was still on his phone.
"Sure." He turns it off and puts it in his pocket. Kylo sighs and continues.
"First rule: no phones allowed."
Everyone in class lets out annoyed sounds, which he ignores and goes on.
"Second rule: don't ever touch the skeleton."
My eyes shift to the left and I see a human height skeleton standing next to the school board. I bend over to Daniel, the guy next to me.
"What's up with the skeleton?" I whisper. He lookes at me with a grin.
"Haven't you heard? There are rumors it's made out of real, human bones."
I raise my eyebrows at him.
"That's gross."
"Kinda. Is this your first biology lesson from Kylo?"
I nod, but before I can answer Kylo looks at us. "Gentlemen, is whatever you're discussing more important than listening to the basic rules I'm telling you right now?"
He walkes toward us.
"Mike, what's the third rule?"
"Uhm," I bring out.
"Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell," Daniel answers. Kylo claps in his hands. "Well done. I'd like to hear Mike answering the next time, but for now I'll leave it to this."
I let out a relieved sigh.
"Thanks," I whisper to Daniel, who just smiles.
