Brief History of the Past

Winter P.O.V.

I chased Rosle around the camp site, trying to put the seat on him. I tried to catch my breath when I stopped and kept thinking to myself that I needed to workout more. I saw Rosle out of the side of my eye, I held out my hand and grabbed Rosle's Tale.

"Got ya, Rosle. Now sit or I will make 29 put the supplies on you." I point to the spot in front of to show him where I wanted him to sit. Rosle came and tried to rub his muzzle on the top of my head. "Oh no sir, I will have none of that. Now sit still so I can see how much longer until the seat fits you." Rosle dropped his head in defeat and laid down so I can get the top of him. I arrange the seat on his back. Once the seat was on his back I went lock the seat belt on his underside. "Looking good Rosle. It makes you look like one brave dragon." When I said that Rosle blew fire in my face.

"Winter, are you alright?" 29 ran over to me and push Rosle over to get to me.

"Thank goodness I am fireproof from Rosle." I said wiping the soot off my face.

"Riders normally are fireproof from their dragons." 29 said taking a book out of his bag. "This book tells the history of the dragons and their riders. The last rider according to this was your great great-grandmother before you." 29 handed me the book.

"It say here, riders are family members between 3 families. There is or was one rider every new family generation until after The Dragon Wars. When the war ended the families made a pact to become one, but the worlds will never know. It also says that when the females (who are the riders) married that they had to tell their spouses. After the spouses found out that they are riders, the males ended up kill the females. The families took the kids to protect them from been killed by their fathers and that is why the became one. The female started getting smarter by not telling their spouses and only telling the girls. The female children will be the only ones not to tell their husbands until one day a rider changes the course of history. It also has the family tree of The Three Families becoming one and the last child born is ME." I closed the book and had it it to 29. I went to pet Rosie as I unbuckled his saddle. " 29, this is all very confusing. How am I supposed to be helpful in war if I don't understand my history?"

"I understand Winter that this is very confusing, but you must understand after your great great-grandmother died there was never supposed to be another Rider again. Until you were born with the mark of the Riders. Your mother try to hide your mark for 2 months until your grandfather held you. When your mother saw the look on your grandfather's face he knew that the wars would be back and that you'll dethrone him. He would do anything to keep his throne and your father by his side." He put away the book and started the fire again as I sat underneath of Rosle's wing.

"So what happened exactly when grandfather found out I was a rider?" I asked him knowing the truth was unpleasant.

"Your grandfather tried to kill you by trying to choke your neck in front of your mother. She hits your grandfather and ran with you and your father to earth. For many years your grandfather tried to find you, so you wouldn't take his power that he loves so much. It is said that when a rider is born in the Royal Family that child when it is old enough to take the throne. Since before you came back your grandfather's started training the Army here to fight against you. Which is why we must get to your mother." He sat by the fire looking at Rosle's eyes.

"But mom is dead. How is she to help us in the war?" I asked as I cuddle with Rosle.

"First, we have to keep Rosle alive until we get to your mother. When we get there, Rosle will breath fire on her soul and she will be alive once again." 29 started getting into his sleeping as Rosle tucked me under his wing. "Your mother guards the land of the death." was the last thing that 29 said before I fell asleep.
