"(Y/N)!!!!"

"Yes?" I answer my (bff/n).

"Aren't you excited??!!"

I somehow manage to pull on a small smile that seemed genuine, satisfying her desire of searching for some enthusiasm out of me.

It was just enough to make her stood calling my name repeatedly. Yet barely close to making her chattering come to a halt.

"I'm so excited! I wonder what the place will look like? The food!!! All the shops and blah blah blah blah..." (bff/n) chatters away.

We are on our way to a brief meeting in the gym. It's a day before the retreat and all the excitement in the air is practically suffocating me.

Especially,  when you have a friend spewing out such excitement every living second.

We enter the gym, the air is warm from the heat that emits from all of our bodies. The happiness is worse here. A million times worse than it was before we entered.

I watch them grin, laugh, and socialize about. They seem pretty hyped. My stomach twists.

Don't get me wrong. It's not as though I hope  for darkness to embrace the world. Haha...I'm not that emo...

Its just that I feel uncomfortable. I've never been used to seeing so many people feel so much happiness at the same time. No matter how many times I see it. It doesn't feel...normal?

Not normal as in whatever normal is to the average person. I'm talking about my kind of normal.

I resist the urge to squirm and paint on a friendly smile. (Bff/n) and I socialize with the others. After all, I- I mean we will be coaching/managing them. Might as well get to know who they are so that we can all feel comfortable and so the two of us can do our best at our job.

Suddenly, all the chatter comes to a stop as the coach walks in alongside the teacher in charge.

The coach is quite different than I imagined. I don't say that though and somehow shuffle my way through the muscular towers, all the way at the back.

One problem, I can't see. Yup. That was totally smart move. Great job (Y/N).

Note the sarcasm.

I internally groan and eye the back of the head with annoyance. As much as I hope that I'm not too obvious, I continue to do so.

Nothing personal. Just a little bitter about my height and the tall towers who stand mockingly in front of me, even if it's my fault that I ended up at the back in the first place.
