Marcus's POV

It's been 4 days since the interview with Mr Tate. I think I didn't get the job. I pull on black skinny jeans and a Paramore t-shirt. I brush my hair to one side and walk out my bedroom. I strut into the kitchen and grab the 6 eggs. I scramble 3 and fry 3. I put on the scrambled eggs on one plate each and place 1 fried egg on 3 of the plates. I set the forks and knives beside each plate. I eat my eggs and wash my plate and cutlery. I grab my bag and go out for my newspaper rounds.

I pick up the newspaper at the printers and stuff them into my bag. Since my family doesn't have enough money for a bike, I'm forced to walk house-to-house, in the searing February heat. (A/N~This story is set in NZ, where I live) Even with a tank top, khakis and Jandels, I literally feel the sweat dripping out of my pores. My top must look ghastly with all the sweat patches. I make the decision to take off the top.

I walk a few more blocks and pass a small group of girls. The blonde ones wearing a loose neon orange top and shows her tummy, denim shorts and orange high-tops. The first brunette is wearing a figure-hugging pale pink tank top, faded blue ripped skinny jeans with white converse. They last girl, brunette is wearing a white top which you can she her black bra underneath, with white shorts and black high-heels. High-heels! Is she out of her freaking mind? They look at my face, biting their lip. They trail their eyes down my body and as soon as they see my slightly pudgy stomach, they look away, chins up. Sluts.

Finally after a long 1 and a half hour, all the newspaper are delivered and I am finally home.
"Dad, I'm home!" I say as soon as I open the door. The car which was used for mothers work transport an sometimes me, if it was an emergency, wasn't in the driveway, so she was most likely out buying lunch.
"Son!" I hear my dad shout from his room. I quickly rush over.
"What's wrong?" I looks at him. He is still in bed, no injuries on him.
"Um....." He makes a thinking face. "A man called for you while you were out.... Mr.... Mr something.... I think I wrote it down somewhere."
He begins ruffling though his night stand.
"Aha! Found it," he holds up a yellow Post-it note. "Mr Tate, he said that he wound call back at 1:30." He reads.
"Thanks dad." I smile at him. He grins back at me.

I walk to the kitchen and look at the 2nd clock in the house. (The first one is in dad and mothers room.) It reads '13:25'. Five more minutes to the phone call. The door opens and shut. My mother comes into the kitchen and places a box of pizza on the table. I frown at it and look at the clock calendar. 15th January. I smile at my mother when I realize that it was Pizza day.
"Dad, lunch." I say into the hall before taking out plates and cutlery, setting the table. We all sit down and eat in our usual silence.

Suddenly the phone rings. I push my chair back and pick up the retriever.
"Hello, Marcus Everett here." I say into the phone.
"Oh, hello. It's Mr Tate from 'Kai's Department store'." His voice speaks.
"Oh, sorry I didn't pick up your first call, I was out on my newspaper route, got back 5 minutes ago."
"So, about the job. You still want it right?"
"Yes, I do."
"Well, you got it. You got the job."
I am so happy that I squealed and screamed, putting the retriever down and doing a victory dance. My parents look at me in confusion.
"I'll tell you later." I mouth to them. I pick up the phone again.
"Thank you so so much." I tell him.
"Come by the office tomorrow, 8am sharp and we will talk about the contract et cetra."
"Ok! Bye, Mr Tate."
"Good bye." He says before hanging up.

I turn to face my family.
"You remember the job I was talking about a few days ago right?" I tell them and my mother nods at me. "Well... I got it!" I continue.
My mother claps in glee. "Yay!"
"Good for you son." My father smiles at me. I feel happy that he is proud of me. We continue eating but this time it is filled with us talking and bonding.

Mr. Tate's POV

I finally make up my mind and dial his number. Again. After 2 rings, someone picks up.
"Hello, Marcus Everett here." His sweet voice echoes out.
"Oh, hello. It's Mr Tate from 'Kai's Department store'." I reply.
"Oh, sorry I didn't pick up your first call, I was out on my newspaper route, got back 5 minutes ago." Newspaper boy? Aren't they meant to be 13~15-year-olds?
"So, about the job. You still want it right?" I lean back a little on my black leather swivel chair.
"Yes, I do."
"Well, you got it. You got the job."
I hear squealing and screaming. I feel Kyle Number 2 wake up. I then hear shuffling and moving around.
"Thank you so so much." Marcus says when he comes back on.
"Come by the office tomorrow, 8am sharp and we will talk about the contract et cetra." And sex, my mind protrudes.
"Ok! Bye, Mr Tate."
"Good bye." I say before hanging up.
I sigh to myself, what is the boy doing to me? I get up and go home for a cold shower.
