Kyle’s POV:

I go back to work in the afternoon. As soon as I sit down on my office chair, my office the door suddenly swings open. A tired looking Mrs Everett with her hands on her knees is panting for air. I immediately stand up and lead her to a seat.

“What is the matter Mrs Everett?” (A/N – Mrs Everett is Marcus’s mom in case you forgot.)

“M-Marcus.” She manages to breathe out.

“What about him?” I ask cautiously.

“I-I can’t find him?” Tears start to fall down her face.

“What do you mean?” My voice breaks a little.

“I told him to go home and lock all the doors and windows. But when I went home, he wasn’t there. He called me a while ago, but I didn’t notice because I was at my job, so my phone was on silent.”

As I process her words, I realise that Marcus had also called me. I feel my eyes start to tear up. Blinking the tears away, I sit down, facing Mrs Everett. “Tell me everything.”

She takes a deep breath and opens her mouth. “It all started when my husband was young. He was in a gang called ‘Dark Shadow’.” I scoff at the cliché name. “They were well known in the country for causing many crimes. My husbands was what you would call the second-in-charge, but when he got Alzheimer’s a few years ago, the leader allowed him to leave the gang. At that time we were starting to have money problems so we borrowed $60,000 from them. We managed to pay back $2,000 before it all started to go downhill. It was harder to get the money to pay them back. Marcus told me that this morning someone from the gang told it that it was too late. I told him to go home immediately, but he isn’t there!”

“Where is the gang’s hangout?” I ask her.

“I don’t know, you would have to ask my husband.” She replies. “The thing is, he may not remember.”

Marcus’s POV:

The leader who I have nicknamed Red because his hair is dyed blood-red swings the whip down to my thighs. He had left the knife on a near-by table long ago. The blood that had oozed out from the previous wounds splatter everywhere. My body is decorated with red bloody polka dots, some big, some small. My body was so tired, eliminating me from making any sound, never mind moving. Red snickers and brings the whip down again, this time on my chest. He makes another cut to create a bloody ‘X’.

He throws the whip to one of the many people guarding the wooden doors.

“This,” he says, pointing to the middle of the ‘X’, “is where I am going to end your filthy life. That would pay for… hmmm, maybe a third of what the Everett’s owe me.” He shrugs off his jacket and rolls up the sleeves of his button-up shirt. He snaps his fingers twice and a beefy man takes out a dagger from the discarded clothing.

“Let’s hope someone saves you. Hm?” I hope so.

Kyle’s POV:

I drag Mrs Everett beside me to the reception of ‘Lakemore Hospital’. She takes me to Mr Everett’s room. The last time I was here was so long ago that I had forgotten. She opens the door and Mr Everett’s eyes open.

“We need your help darling.” Mrs Everett coughs out. Her husband’s eyes furrow in confusion. I sit down on an old day while Marcus’s mother explains everything to him.

“So, do you know where it is?” I ask, after the explanation. He shakes his head and my heart plummets further.

“It’s all very hazy. I only remember bits and pieces.” His head is in his hands. “I remember a grey rundown building. I think a Chinese or Thai restaurant nearby.”

“I KNOW WHERE THAT IS!” I jump up from my seat, recognising where it was. If my memory served me right, it was near the outskirts of town.

Quickly thanking the couple, I rush downstairs to my car. I take-off to the old building where I used to stay.

Marcus’s POV:

Red walks slowly towards me, twirling the gleaming dagger. He drags it down my face, probably leaving behind a cut. I grit my teeth together so that no sound comes out.

“Scream!” He demands and slashes the weapon across my right collarbone. A blood-curdling scream suddenly fills the room. I immediately shut my mouth when I realise that it was me. “There it is… an amazing voice your have.”

He obviously didn’t appreciate it when I started to swear at him. I cursed him with every swear word under the sun. He backhanded me with the hand that was not holding the dagger.

“Shut the fúck up you bastárd.” He snarled and made another cut own my arm. “It’s a shame you have to die this way.”

“Fúck you.” I say as he raises he dagger to my chest. The door on the building is suddenly kicked open. Red turns around, making the dagger miss my heart, but piercing my stomach instead.

“What’s up mòtherfúckers?” Kyle growls.
