A/N
wow it's been a long time. :) lets do this.
//carl//
I stand there in the empty parking lot panting and clutching a stick in my hand and my blood stained hat in the other. I listen to my heavy breathing and watch my chest rise and fall. Who knew I'd encounter so many walkers on what was meant to be a simple run? I shake off my hat and place it on my messy hair.
I scan the lot and see a black van, some unidentifiable vehicles, and then I see ours. My face breaks into a grin, cracking the blood that had dried there.
Taking yield of the black van, I sneak through the side and slip in.
I scan the area. The ground is coated with freshly killed walkers. My people? Or strangers?
Both? If so, would the strangers be friends or foes? Would I-
"-doesn't matter. A van's outside. I don't remember seeing that there before-"
My breath catches. It's Tara.
"Oh shit did you hear that?"
They heard me.
Well there's no point in hiding now.
I step out from behind the shelf with my arms raised to face my friends standing before me.
"Carl!" I hear both my dad and Enid shout in unison.
"Hey." I take a step towards them when suddenly a noise erupts and glass shatters. I barely have time to register what happened when another bullet grazes my shirt.
"Fuck."
I dive behind the book shelf where the Glenn and Enid are, Rick, Michonne, and Tara in the one next to us.
"Those bitches in the van!" I hear Tara hiss. "I fucking told y'all-"
Another shot is fired.
"Don't say anything," Glenn whispers.
Confused, I grab Enid's hand and am surprised when she squeezed it.
Much to my dismay, though, she throws it back to my side only a few seconds later.
"Carl why the fuck are you here. I told you-"
"Enid I literally just told you not to say anything."
She shuts her mouth and nods. I peer at her from behind my hair. I mouth the word, "Sorry." She flips me off.
"We know you're in there." It's a man's voice.
"Get your fat asses out here." A female.
"We know there are least three of you. Judging by the amount of dead ones, though, there are most likely more. So come on out, and no one has to die. Yet." They laugh.
No one says anything. We all just stare at each other.
'Wait,' my dad mouths.
We all nod.
Silence passes, then we hear a sigh.
"Well. We're waiting."
//enid//
Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit.
We're gonna die.
I'm gonna loose Carl.
I wonder what would have happened if we had brought Rosita instead.
I really want one of Carol's cookies.
I also really want to kiss Carl.
What?
No.
I want to live.
I don't want to eat anymore turtles.
No, I want to kill these bastards.
Congratulations, Rick. I've learned the ropes.
And this is an emergency.
