Explantion

Topanga eventually called the girls for dinner, ending their moment. Riley glanced at Maya hesitantly before taking her hand in her own, earning a grin from the blonde.

Riley smiled herself, pleased that maya seemed to have more confident feelings about her now. Riley's hand fit perfectly into the blondes, her purple nail polish coinciding with pink and creating a perfect pattern.

They bounded into the kitchen, their interlocked hands earning a knowing grin from Topanga, going unnoticed by the girls. As they sat to eat, that's when things started to get....

Complicated.

For every lovesick glance from Riley to maya, there was an amused smirk from Topanga. For every smirk, a not-so-subtle look of confusion on Cory. For every look of confusion, a shrug from auggie, and for every shrug, a distracted Maya with Riley quick on the case to get her attention back.
And back.
And back.

Finally, Cory had had it.

He slammed his hands into the table, scaring the two girls apart. He looked between the two, and you could practically see the equations working in his head.
"Alright, either I get an explanation of what's going on in the next 2 minutes or this guy's moving back to Philly!" Cory said, pointing to himself in his dramatic ways.

Topanga only sighed, letting her husband figure it out for himself.

Maya looked at Riley, questions on her lips and in her eyes.
Riley stared back, unsure of how to tell the distraught man.

Cory looked at the girls.
Topanga looked at him.
Auggie shrugged once more, caring more about his chicken than his fathers latest meltdown.

Cory widened his eyes expectantly.
"Anyyyyday now." He said impatiently.

Riley spared one last reassuring glance at maya and started her "explanation."

"Well, you see dad, maya and I are kind of.... sort of... maybe..... dating....?" Riley looked at maya, confusion and slight fear in her chocolate eyes.

Maya looked back at her, lovingly patting her shoulder.
"Good girl, I know that was a toughie."
She said sarcastically, humor in her eyes.
Riley looked back sheepishly, then glanced up at her father for a reaction.

Silence.
And silence.
And OH WAIT!
Silence.

Don't worry, it's not as bad as you think (probably 😉) I'm writing this chapter by chapter and just going with whatever comes to mind, so expect the unexpected! Again, trying to update more often but it will still take a bit.
