Jason's POV:

"Is there a reason why we're not doing this at the house?" The sound of Tyler's questioning voice sounded from the backseat. Andrew was driving and I was in the passenger seat. Normally I'd be driving, but not today as I was in no state of mind to be driving. I'd get distracted  too quickly, so for once I let Andrew drive.

"I don't want to risk Chelsea eavesdropping." My gaze maintained on the blurry landscape if packed trees that surrounded the road.

"Sure. Or you could just tell her what you do for a living instead of hiding."

"I'm not hiding." I spat in a serious tone at Tyler's remark. Why did he suddenly feel a need to interfere in my business with Chelsea, and whether or not I was going to tell her what I did for a living? That was between me and her. Well actually it was just between me and myself for now. "I just don't wanna drag her into this shit." I added admittingly. I wasn't exactly proud about how much I had come to care for her, but it was inevitable for me.

"Are you going soft over a girl, McCann?" A taunting voice belonging to one Andrew James almost sang.

"I'm not."

"You are."

I shook my head, "no, I'm not."

"Dude you're totally going soft over her." Tyler spoke from the backseat, deciding to back up Andrews torture as he got out of the car when it stopped in the small parking lot that belonged to the deserted diner. I hurried out of the car and as soon as Tyler closed the door behind him, I backed him up against it, holding him by the collar of his jacket. My face right in front of his.

"I'm not fucking going soft." I spat and let go of him, shoving him violently against the car after he took a step towards me. "Anything else you wanna say to me huh?" My anger was slowly getting away with me. Only I had no intend of stopping it. Nobody calls me soft.

"Jason drop it." Andrew said in a tone of authority, deciding to take the adult role in our little trio as always. He might have been the most adult one of us, but he was no one to tell me what to do. However despite that fact, I decided to take his word for it and drop it. We had important business to attend and Tyler's smart mouth could wait until later. Our business and its trouble was far more crucial.

A little bell above the door dangled as we came through the door, letting the waitress know that someone was in. A middle aged bewildered woman stumbled out from the kitchen and to the desk area. When she saw us she almost looked confused to see living, breathing people. I'd imagine not a lot of people came here often. Both Andrew and Tyler sent her small, polite smiles. I wasn't in the mood and barely even bestowed her a glance. Instead I went straight for a table in the far corner of the diner which would leave us out of sight.
