WARNINGS: NONE
NOTES: Here's part two of the Killer Croc oneshot. More like a twoshot... Is that a thing? I don't know. Whatever. Sorry I haven't been very active lately, I've been running low on motivation, BUT HERE I AM AGAIN. Hope you all enjoy this! I think I'm going to do a part three, since it kinda leaves off on a loose end, but I don't know, what do you guys think? But, a Deadshot chapter will be up later! We have a snow day today, so I'm really bored.
You woke up the next morning, stretching your arms and yawning. Today was the day you were going to go back into the sewers, and find whatever that thing was that saved you the previous day. You were both scared, and excited to go back down there. You jumped out of bed, completely forgetting about your twisted ankle.
You hissed in pain, and you landed on the carpet, swearing under your breath. You fell to your knees.
After sitting there for about thirty seconds, you climbed back to your sore feet. Stabilizing yourself on the bed, you began to carefully walk to the kitchen.
You figured, since whatever that thing is in the sewers is probably not going to be very happy with you, you decided to bring him some sort of... offering. And by offering, you meant like, three burgers.
You really weren't the best at cooking, but you managed to make four burgers, only burning yourself three times on the stove.
You carefully put the burgers in a paper bag and gently set it in your backpack, along with a flashlight and pepper spray. Slinging the bag over your shoulder, pulled on your shoes and jacket, then headed out the door.
The cold, dense air of Gotham hit your face, making you shiver. You pulled your jacket around your body a bit tighter, all the while trying to dodge the hoards of people rushing around.
Everyone was rambling on about how some chick named Harleen Quinzel turned crazy, and joined the Joker. That would explain why you woke up to insane laughter in the middle of the night.
"Great, now there's two of those crazies?" You mutter to yourself, wiggling your way through the crowd.
You finally escaped the sea of people, and made your way down a fairly abandoned street. A sudden pang of anxiety struck you. Maybe this was a bad idea... You debated this in your head, finally deciding to push forward. You didn't burn your hand to chicken out.
You reached the manhole you were looking for. You stopped in front of it, taking a deep breath before bending over and lifting the heavy metal cover off. The awful smell stung your nose, making you cringe.
Grabbing the flashlight out of your bag, you started to climb down the rickety steel ladder. You almost fell, but by some miracle, caught yourself and felt like a ninja doing it. That was probably the highlight of the week, besides meeting a giant monster thing in the sewers.
You felt your foot hit the hard, wet pavement of the cement platform, separating you from the nasty water of Gotham's sewer system. Clicking on your flashlight, you trekked down the narrow path, the feeling of something watching you from the shadows creeping upon you.
You head something move in the water beside you.
You were now thinking that this was a really bad idea.
You took a deep breath, before stopping. You turned to look at the stone wall opposite you, pointing your flashing into the murky waters.
"H-hello?" You called out quietly into the dark. You felt your heart rate speed up, seeing bubbles being blown to the surface. The top of a head covered in scales slowly rose out of the water, glowing eyes staring directly into your soul, it seemed. You gasped, and backed up against the cold stone wall as the figure continued to rise out of the water.
It was huge. Bigger than you originally thought. It's skin was covered head to toe in scales, wearing tattered shorts. He growled deeply and opened his mouth just enough for you to see the glint of pointed teeth in the flashlight. He was... Beautiful, in a way.
Your fear was suddenly replaced with fascination with the creature. You slowly slipped off your bag, and grabbed the burgers out.
The thing growled again, and you put your hands up, one holding the bag.
"Why ain't you runnin'?" The thing asked, it's voice low, almost like a growl. You looked at him in the eyes.
"Because you saved me." You said. The thing cocked it's scaled head, staring at you with almost a look of confusion, before realizing.
"That was you?" He said. You nodded, taking half a step closer.
"Yeah..." You said, "And I just wanted to say thank you. If it wasn't for you, I don't know where I'd be right now. Probably dead."
The thing nodded. You opened the bag with the burgers and pulled one out, holding out to him.
"I made this for you. I have more if this isn't enough, just please don't take my arm with it, I need that for work." You said, a bit nervous for his reaction. The thing simply looked at you, then at the food, before slowly reaching huge hands up, and grabbing it from you. He shoved it into his mouth, chewing it ravenously and swallowing. He motioned for another, which you quickly responded to, pulling out another sandwich.
He ate all three, growling it satisfaction at the end. It was quiet for a moment, as he looked at you once more.
"Thank you..." He said. You smiled a little bit at him stepping a few inches closer.
"It's the least I can do." You replied happily, "What's your name anyway?"
The thing looked into the water, then back to you. He growled in hesitation.
"I ain't really gotta name, not one that anyone really cares about." He said, his tone sounding almost depressed, "But the name my Mamma gave me is Waylond. Most of them people just call Croc, though."
You bit your lip. You felt so horrible for him. If you look past the scales and the cannibalism, he actually seemed like a decent guy.
"My name's (Y/N)." You said, "It's nice to meet you."
Croc nodded in response.
"I like you, (Y/N)." He said, his sharp teeth sparkling as he smiled slightly, "But I don't understand why you ain't scared."
He looked at his hands, clenching his fist a few times.
"Most people just think Imma ugly monster
"Like I said, you saved my life." You laughed a little as you spoke, "And for the record, I think you're amazing."
Croc stared at you in confusion, raking a few steps closer to you. You slowly reached out a hand, gently placing it on his rough scaled cheek. He flinched at your touch, backing away a few inches. You frowned, putting your arm down. Croc looked back at you apologetically.
"Sorry." He said gruffly, "Not used to that."
You nodded, understanding. You dug in your backpack for your phone to check the time.
7:43.
That late already? It'd only felt like, a few hours! You did wake up rather late. You sighed, putting your phone in your jacket pocket.
"Hey, I gotta go..." You said. Croc growled in disapointment. You laughed and shrugged.
"Don't worry. I'll come see you again." You smiled. Croc gave a pointy smile at you, stepping a bit closer. You leaned down to press a quick kiss on his forehead, before jogging off.
