Kelly's POV

I woke up to the slamming of my own backpack onto my lungs. Too much force from the blow knocked the wind straight out of me. It was Ulga the worst caregiver in the orphanage.

I started crying, "What did you do that for?" I struggled to utter out the few words, gasping for air.

Ulga with no care walked out the door, yelling, "Get up you pathetic child!"

I had no response as I gained back my breath. I got up and got ready, without a word. Before leaving the walls of the hell hole, that engulfed her, she had to wake-up the young ones. I never want them to face Ulga in the morning. Especially the Ulga that had not had her strong beverage of choice, we all knew she had to have a little liquor in her coffee to mellow her out.

I continued my normally-terrible day, with my long and taxing walk. I wonder if that boy will keep staring at me today? (She never minded the comfort of his quick, yet constant gaze) I got to school, my mind ready to learn and see the brown haired, well dressed kid staring at her from the eighth grade hall, as she walked by.

Today was different, she hadn't seen him. Did he figure I found out he was staring? This is kind of disheartening to me, because my day was not complete without knowing someone was watching me. Someone HAD cared about me, does he still? Does this mean anything to me? "Yes" I answer myself quietly. I knew that it was the best feeling of someone caring about me and my safety.
