Harry hated hospitals. Everything was white, and reeked of chlorine, and 99% of the time, people were in the hospital for bad news.

"Um, so Niall's in room 478," Gemma said. After Harry's outburst yesterday, he was surprised she wanted to even see his face anymore.

"Alright," Harry said, and went off to find Room 478.

Eventually, Harry and Gemma found it, and Harry pushed open the door and took a deep breath.

Niall lay in a cot, his heart monitor still beating. Harry sighed. Niall's eyes were closed, no longer shining and beautiful. His features were still the same, but what made him beautiful were not his features, but the light glowing behind them.

He could have been as good as dead.

Harry walked up to Niall, and softly touched his cheek. Niall's eyes fluttered open.

"Harry?" Niall weakly managed to say, and then he coughed.

Harry smiled sadly. "Yep."

"Y-you came?"

A tear rolled down Harry's cheek. His voice shook as he said, "Niall, I love you, I've always loved you." He placed his lips on Niall's gingerly, and Niall responded by softening his lips. They pulled apart.

Niall said, "To love is to be destroyed; if you truly love something, let it go." Niall smiled sadly.

Harry sobbed now. "You were the only thing that kept me alive, that woke me up in the mornings. I-I... I can't."

Niall half smiled. "You need to realize that I won't be around forever, probably not even the rest of the week, but you need to move on. You can't spend the rest of your life moping about me. Don't forget me."

Harry shook his head and started singing. "Every time I close my eyes, it's like a dark paradise. My heart belongs to you, and I'm scared that you won't be waiting on the other side." Harry was crying now.

Niall squeezed his hand, and his breathing got heavy and shaky. The heart monitor was slowing down. Harry bent down and kissed him once more.

He pulled away and took one last look at Niall.

Breathing his last breath.
